This week\u2019s Zelda Direct<\/a> finally revealed gameplay for the Ocarina of Time remake<\/a>. But while the reveal triggered a wave of nostalgia for the 1998 original N64 game, the remake\u2019s art style divided opinion<\/a>. The new character designs, in particular for Link, came under particular scrutiny.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Weighing in on the topic on Twitter \/ X<\/u><\/a>, Nintendo veteran Takaya Imamura suggested the new character models may reflect developer legend Shigeru Miyamoto\u2019s love of puppetry.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat I felt upon seeing this character model (of Link) is that Miyamoto-san\u2019s love of puppet dramas (ningyogeki<\/em>) is strongly reflected here too!\u201d Imamura said. His opinion is worth considering \u2014 Imamura worked at Nintendo for over 30 years, particularly on the Star Fox and F-Zero series, and of course, was the art director for Ocarina of Time\u2019s sequel, The Legend of Zelda: Majora\u2019s Mask.<\/p>\n
