Volvo has updated its 40 series cars via the traditional method of updatification: new lights, bigger screens, more technology. Welcome to the new XC40<\/a>, EX40<\/a> and EC40<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Those latter \u2018E\u2019 badged cars are the electric ones don\u2019t forget, offering up to 357 miles on a single charge, while the XC40 is the 2.0-litre petrol hybrid.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The \u2018Thor\u2019s Hammer\u2019 headlights have been tweaked, there\u2019s a new front grille, and new treatments for the bonnet and arches too. Messrs XC40 and EX40 gets new tail-lights, tailgate and a redesigned rear bumper, while the EC40 gets\u2026 nada. Aww.<\/p>\n

All three get a bigger 11.2in touchscreen \u2013 yay? \u2013 which has been updated to make it \u201cfaster and easier with fewer taps needed to access key functions\u201d. This sounds promising.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Naturally, all three get artificial intelligence shoved in there too so you can have a \u201cnatural conversation\u201d with a computer (have we learned nothing<\/em> from Terminator 2<\/em><\/a>?) via Google Gemini. More everyday human upgrades also arrive in the form of \u2018smart\u2019 storage, a better wireless phone charger, better upholstery and the option of \u2013 gasp \u2013 leather!<\/p>\n

Other gasps arrive in the shape of a door opening alert warning about oncoming cyclists, an upgraded \u2018pilot assist\u2019 system, and a 3D view for the (optional) 360-degree camera. These are all possible thanks to new frickin\u2019 radars all round, a new front camera, new ultrasonic sensors and even a new parking camera.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
