Not a DB12 that’s been driven through a hedge, but a motorcycle. Obviously, a motorcycle! You can see it is a motorcycle! It’s officially called the AMB 002, which implies the existence of an AMB 001.

Which there is. 001 was the “sensational” (their words) track-only version, while this new 002 is the road-legal sibling. It’s been built in collaboration with Brough Superior, and to TopGear.com’s eyes, looks quietly fantastic.

Indeed, we’re assured the AMB 002 deploys “fluid lines, compact proportion and precisely sculpted carbon fibre body elements” in its design. This being a two-wheeled product from a company most famous for making four-wheeled ones, there are of course links to road cars: the famous Aston side strakes, twin exhausts, rear light blades, and of course, leather.

Sadly, there is no link to a howling naturally aspirated 6.0-litre V12 (TopGear.com rather suspects it’d be quite tricky to bolt in a 12-pot) so instead there’s a 1.0-litre four-stroke V-Twin developing 130bhp and 81lb ft.

Those 130 two-wheeled horsepowers have apparently been tuned “for strong low and mid-range torque”, while the Brough engine delivering them gets a CNC-machined billet engine case and other “aerospace grade processes and materials”.

All of it sits within a lightweight titanium frame milled from a solid billet that itself weighs just 5kg – you’ll find heavier buttons in a DBX! – in a bike with an overall weight figure of 190kg. About right in the realm of superbikes, we’re reliably informed. There’s double wishbone suspension too. Just like a car!

And just like limited edition Astons, this one’s… limited.
