The first glimpses of DC Studios\u2019 The People v. Gorilla Grodd indicates it\u2019s shaping up to be just as wacky as a TV show about a talking genius gorilla hailing from the creators of American Vandal could possibly get.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The People v. Gorilla Grodd is an eight-part true crime documentary series hosted by The Daily Planet\u2019s Jimmy Olsen<\/u><\/a> (once again played by Superman\u2019s Skyler Gisondo<\/u><\/a>), who is investigating whether Grodd was wrongly imprisoned for killing his father, King Grodd.<\/p>\n

Jimmy Tatro has been cast as Gorilla Grodd, but the actor recently explained that his role is mostly voice work<\/u><\/a> and that motion-capture will be used to record his facial expressions.<\/p>\n

That would explain why there\u2019s a performer in a gorilla costume in the set photos and videos all over social media while the production films at Georgia Institute of Technology. It\u2019s likely the suit performer is a stand-in for what will eventually become a CGI character.<\/p>\n

The set photos and videos show Grodd attending Metropolis University<\/u><\/a>, graduating in his cap and gown<\/u><\/a>, singing with an a cappella group<\/u><\/a>, and serenading a young woman<\/u><\/a> with the Backstreet Boys\u2019 “As Long as You Love Me”. There are also videos showing what appears to be Tatro performing \u201cParty Rock Anthem\u201d<\/u><\/a> (here\u2019s another quick listen to Tatro\u2019s voice as Grodd<\/u><\/a>).<\/p>\n

The show\u2019s cast also include Beck Bennett as Steve Lombard, Mikaela Hoover as Cat Grant, & Wendell Pierce as Perry White, all of whom reprise their respective roles from James Gunn\u2019s Superman. Additional cast includes Mary Holland, Eduardo Franco, Dan Perrault, and Arian Moayed.<\/p>\n
