at the US Open has come underfire from players, pundits, and fans, with social media content creators disrupting matches at the Grand Slams.<\/p>\n<p>Umpires have been forced to stop influencers from making content during matches, which has caused a backlash from the players it is affecting.<\/p>\n<p>Naomi Osaka\u2019s match was littered with disturbances from influencers and she was outspoken on the matter during her post-match press conference.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think obviously if you come to a sporting event, you have to respect the sport,\u201d said the Japanese star. \u201cI feel like it\u2019s common courtesy to read up on the sport, especially the etiquette.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Now, Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula have had their say on the matter, and they largely agree with their WTA href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/Leylah-Fernandez\">Leylah Fernandez<\/a> in her third round match, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/jessica-pegula\">Pegula<\/a> said: \u201cI can appreciate the influencers coming and showcasing the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/us-open\">US Open<\/a> experience.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut I do think that it\u2019s tough when you see videos when they\u2019re taking pictures and using the selfie lights. People are down there trying to perform. It\u2019s their career and their job. It seems a bit disrespectful.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/coco-gauff\">Gauff<\/a> has a similar view to Pegula, who she could meet in the final of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/us-open\">US Open<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI definitely think it\u2019s cool to have a new demographic and I definitely think it helps grow the sport. But if you\u2019re being invited to a red carpet, you wouldn\u2019t show up in jeans. I think it\u2019s just follow the etiquette of the sport,\u201d said Gauff.<\/p>\n<p>While <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/naomi-osaka\">Osaka<\/a>, Gauff, and Pegula are largely down on the influx of influencers at the US Open, there has been some positivity about a different generation being introduced to tennis.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/frances-tiafoe\">Frances Tiafoe<\/a>, who booked his spot in the fourth round of the competition by beating <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/valentin-vacherot\">Valentin Vacherot<\/a> in straight sets, believes the raucous atmospheres is what makes the US Open stand out on the tennis calendar.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think the Open is great because you get all types of people who want to come and watch tennis,\u201d said the American. \u201cThat is the point: to get all types of people to watch tennis, it does not matter what occupation it is.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBecause everyone is watching tennis, all from different walks of life and different types of people. Personally, I love that. I have no problem with anybody doing anything coming to watch tennis. It\u2019s putting a\u2014- on seats, different age ranges, it\u2019s huge for our sport, and that\u2019s all I care about.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/Daniil-medvedev\">Daniil Medvedev<\/a>, who will play Tiafoe in the fourth round of the US Open, is in agreement with his upcoming opponent.<\/p>\n<p>The more we try to raise awareness about tennis, the better it is,\u201d said the Russian star. \u201cThe more popular the sport is. For sure there is some downside.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMaybe more people are gonna recognise you on the street and it\u2019ll be tougher to go to a restaurant.
