\n\tAt one point in Always Lalisa <\/em>\u2014 which is set to premiere soon at the Toronto International Film Festival \u2014 the Thai performer opened up about the restrictions K-pop culture places on idols when it comes to romance. \u201cIn K-pop culture, we can\u2019t date,\u201d she said, according to a report by Toronto Star<\/em> published Thursday (Sept. 3). \u201cIf you\u2019re seeing someone and you get caught by paparazzi, your popularity drops.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWhen I was younger, I had a few relationships, but we had to hide when we\u2019re dating,\u201d she continued. \u201cI didn\u2019t want my dating to be the thing that hurts BLACKPINK\u2019s popularity.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tShe also revealed in the film that her song \u201cDream,\u201d which appears on her Billboard 200 top 10 solo album Alter Ego<\/em>, is about one of her past secret relationships. LISA added that she got that person\u2019s blessing before releasing the song, so long as fans wouldn\u2019t be able to uncover who\u2019d inspired it.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThey thought they figured it out, but I don\u2019t think so,\u201d LISA said.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Sue Kim-directed documentary will screen on Sept. 11 at TIFF, after which it\u2019ll hit theaters in October and later stream exclusively on YouTube Premium. According to a description, it follows the White Lotus <\/em>actress\u2019 \u201ctransformative year away from BLACKPINK\u201d as \u201cforging her own path, particularly in the Western music market, brings new pressures, relentless scrutiny and the challenge of redefining herself on her own terms.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tLISA is now gearing up to release her first set of solo songs since Alter Ego<\/em>, with EP Press Play <\/em>set to drop on Oct. 23. Its first single, \u201cSaWaDiKa,\u201d arrived Friday (Sept. 4).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
