\n\tSean \u201cDiddy\u201d Combs could be home from prison earlier than expected, according to federal inmate records that show his release date has been moved up.<\/p>\n
\n\tDiddy, 56, is now expected to be set free on Feb. 5, 2028, according to records posted by the federal Bureau of Prisons reviewed by Billboard<\/em>. But the new release date would represent an even shorter sentence than previously thought \u2014 only roughly two years and four months after his date of sentencing.<\/p>\n \n\tSuch dates are just estimates, reflecting the \u201cinmate\u2019s projected release date based on BOP calculations.\u201d The earlier-than-expected date could reflect that Combs will serve the final few months of his sentence at a residential reentry center, or halfway house, or his participation in BOP\u2019s drug abuse rehab program, which can sometimes shave months off an inmate\u2019s sentence. BOP does not comment on how specific projections are reached.<\/p>\n \n\tDiddy\u2019s expected release has moved several times in the year since the star was sentenced. It was initially May 5, 2028, but was moved back to June 4 after media reports that he violated prison rules by drinking homemade alcohol. It was then moved to January, then back to late February, before the most recent move to Feb. 5.<\/p>\n \n\tOnce one of music\u2019s most powerful men, Combs was arrested and charged in September 2024 with racketeering (RICO) and sex trafficking violations over claims that he ran a sprawling criminal operation aimed at facilitating the \u201cfreak-offs\u201d \u2014 elaborate events at which he allegedly forced ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura and others to have sex with male escorts while he watched and masturbated.<\/p>\n \n\tFollowing a blockbuster trial, jurors cleared Combs on the more serious charges that could have seen him sentenced to prison for life. But he was still convicted on the lesser prostitution charges, resulting in a 50-month prison sentence \u2014 a term the judge said he hoped would \u201csend a message to abusers and victims alike that exploitation and violence against women is met with real accountability.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tDiddy could still be released far earlier than February 2028. He is currently appealing both his conviction and sentence, with his lawyers taking a heavy focus on overturning a prison term they have called \u201cdraconian\u201d and unfair.
