Applications for Isle of Man passports are set to move online this winter, in one of the biggest changes to the service in years.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The shift means most people will apply through the government website, using a digital system run by His Majesty’s Passport Office which already handles millions of UK passport applications each year.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The move is intended to make the process quicker and more convenient, but it also comes with a major change for anyone whose passport is close to expiring.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The most immediate impact for customers is a price drop, with online applications costing \u00a3102, down from the current \u00a3115.50.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The Passport Office said it understood the change “may present a challenge for some customers”, but said support would be offered in the coming month, including help at public workspaces in Douglas.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
