Open in the first round at the hands of Mariano Navone.<\/p>\n<p>The Serbian\u2019s health issues once again got the better of him in the humidity of New York as he fell to a five-set defeat to the 25-year-old Argentine.<\/p>\n<p>Djokovic has now lost three matches in a row since losing to Jannik Sinner in the Wimbledon semi final, having been beaten in his opening match at the Cincinnati Open and now the US Open.<\/p>\n<p>Following another early exit for Djokovic, legendary tennis coach Brad Gilbert has urged the Serbian to make a major change to his schedule.<\/p>\n<h2>More Novak Djokovic Podcast<\/a>, the former coach of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/coco-gauff\">Coco Gauff<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/andy-murray\">Andy Murray<\/a> said: \u201cI also think the big change, if I was talking to Novak, he\u2019s playing the same schedule that he was playing three years ago, five years ago, when he was dominating.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI feel like he\u2019s undercooked now. He needs to play more matches and he needs more reps. It\u2019s weird to say that.\u201d \u201cThe reason why I say that is because it\u2019s not about winning Cincy, but it\u2019s about getting into match fit form, getting into match shape and when you\u2019re not playing that many matches it\u2019s not that easy just to turn it on.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd at 39, the biggest challenge is, I\u2019m sure what <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/roger-federer\">Federer<\/a> went through, what <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/rafael-nadal\">Rafa<\/a> went through, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/andy-murray\">[Andy] Murray<\/a> and a lot of guys, great champions. If you feel like you can\u2019t win the tournament, that\u2019s probably when father time has beaten you.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m sure he feels like the opportunity was, especially with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/jannik-sinner\">[Jannik] Sinner<\/a> out, he missed the opportunity at the French, he still feels like he can win it, he probably hasn\u2019t come to that resolution.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut I just feel like he\u2019s undercooked in matches and there\u2019s definitely something going on and he revealed this sickness that he needs to figure out, but he needs to I feel like get back to winning a few matches.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know you don\u2019t think he needs to, but that\u2019s the belief in the locker room that he needs to show guys.
