The European Commission said on Monday that US-based platforms ChatGPT,<\/a> Reddit, and Roblox will now face stricter data protection rules after passing a key user threshold.<\/p>\n

Now that all three have over 45 million average monthly users in the European Union<\/a>, they are now obliged to assess and mitigate potential risks related to illegal content, protection of minors<\/a>, and users’ mental health.<\/p>\n

The Digital Services Act (DSA)<\/a>, which came into effect across the bloc in February, has already been applied to companies such as TikTok and Meta.<\/p>\n

CharGPT becomes first AI chatbot to face DSA<\/h2>\n

ChatGPT has now become the first AI<\/a> chatbot to fall under the law’s jurisdiction. Roblox, a user-generated content gaming platform, is now categorized as a\u00a0Very Large Online Platform (VLOP), as is Reddit.<\/p>\n

Owned by\u00a0OpenAI,<\/a> ChatGPT is also subject to European AI regulations.<\/p>\n
