\u201chook them up\u201d with tickets for the US Open.<\/p>\n<p>The season-ending Grand Slam at Flushing Meadows is one of the biggest events on the sporting calendar and tickets are always highly sought-after with players receiving requests from long-lost family and friends for free passes to the tournament.<\/p>\n<p>Two-time major champion Gauff\u2019s mother had enough of the freeloaders and took to Instagram to urge people to make their own arrangements to buy tickets.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDear Family and friends, I apologize in advance for this blunt, but necessary statement,\u201d she wrote. \u201cI know you are very excited about Coco playing in the US Open. Me too!!!Coco\u2019s guest ticket request have already been accounted for.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnfortunately, I will not be able to hook you up with a ticket. Please make arrangements to purchase a ticket. Side note, never ask for more than 2 tickets. Coco is grown now and she has her own friends that she is honoring tickets for the match. I\u2019ll read it after practice,\u2019 because I was on the way onto court.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThen I saw somebody on Threads say, like, \u2018Mama Gauff is strict,\u2019 and I was like, \u2018What\u2019s going on?\u2019 So I looked, and then I see this post, and I\u2019m like, \u2018Oh my goodness, what? Why?&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut honestly, it was needed, and it was directed towards a few family and friends. But, to be honest, yeah, people come out of the woodwork. You haven\u2019t spoken to someone for years. They don\u2019t say congratulations or happy birthday or nothing, and then they\u2019re like, \u2018Oh, I\u2019m in New York and I have eight tickets to your match in your box, please.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd, you know, they give us tickets here, but they\u2019re selling an event, so it\u2019s not like I can give all these people tickets. I guess last year they were really stressed out, between my mum and my dad trying to accommodate everyone. And we\u2019re like, \u2018We\u2019ll give it,\u2019 but it was just, I think, stressful for them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA lot of people personally don\u2019t have my number, so they don\u2019t reach out to me. They\u2019ll reach out to them or someone on my team. And, yeah, I guess somebody \u2013 I don\u2019t know who \u2013 sent her a text this year where she thought that was like the final straw.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSomebody must have sent her something and she was just like, \u2018I need to make a post.\u2019 But, yeah, specifically in New York, it\u2019s just crazy.
