At least the 24-year-old has dressed for the weather, donning a black raincoat in lieu of the white vest that became his onstage uniform earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p>In certain lights, the jacket\u2019s high neck looks like a priest\u2019s dog collar, which is fitting given the dizzying number of religious references threaded through the Brooklyn four-piece\u2019s game-changing 2025 album \u2018Getting Killed\u2019, as images of crucifixes, serpents and apocalyptic horsemen tumble out in a fabulously unhinged stream-of-consciousness.<\/p>\n<div class=\"td-a-ad id_inline_ad0 id_ad_content-horiz-center\"><span class=\"td-adspot-title\">Advertisement<\/span><\/div>\n<p>If Winter were ranting on the street corner about <em>\u201ckneeling on the turnpike\u201d<\/em> with an<em> \u201cangel down my throat\u201d, <\/em>you\u2019d probably give him a wide berth. As it is, he\u2019s drawn a devoted congregation to the tent, like a travelling preacher who\u2019s rolled into town with intoxicating tales of eternal damnation. And Geese sure know how to get the people going, preceding the set with a heart-pumping video montage of sporting triumphs that also includes the Mitchell and Webb sketch in which the former bellows at you to \u2018WATCH THE FOOTBALL!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The band open their sermon with the brooding plod of \u2018Husbands\u2019, which Winter mucks about with a little, mumbling unintelligibly before the song unfurls into its expansive, impossibly beautiful coda and abruptly ends. He\u2019s in a mischievous mood, deadpanning the surreal, horror movie lyrics of Trinidad (\u201c<em>My daughters are dead \/ My wife\u2019s in the shed \/ My husband\u2019s burning lead \/ The rest are force-fed or else baked into bread<\/em>\u201d) as if each line ends in a question mark. It\u2019s like he\u2019s hearing them for the first time and is trying to work out what the hell he\u2019s singing about.<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere, he delivers an untranscribable war-cry midway through a scything \u2018100 Horses\u2019 and pantomimes that he\u2019s about to say something before theatrically abandoning the thought and launching into \u20182122\u2019\u2019s<em> \u201cGet out, get under!\u201d<\/em> chant instead.
