Pok\u00e9monXP is underway, marking the debut of the very first fan convention completely dedicated to all-things Pok\u00e9mon. Of course, some exclusive reveals and big announcements are expected, and one of those involves the brand\u2019s next big animated series.<\/p>\n

First announced in July 2025, The Misadventures of Sirfetch\u2019d and Pichu<\/u><\/a> is exactly what it sounds like \u2014 a charming, humorous romp that follows the two Pok\u00e9mon as they get into all sorts of hijinks in Galar.<\/p>\n

As revealed at Pok\u00e9monXP, the series will be streamed exclusively on Disney+ and the DisneyXD channel. This was an unexpected turn of events, as the brand\u2019s first stop motion series, Pok\u00e9mon Concierge, streams solely on Netflix.<\/p>\n

This new show is being made in collaboration between The Pok\u00e9mon Company International and Aardman Animations, the British stop-motion animation studio best known for beloved properties like Wallace and Gromit<\/a> and Shaun the Sheep.<\/a><\/p>\n

As told during the show\u2019s behind-the-scenes panel<\/a> at Pok\u00e9monXD, there are 262 people working on the project at any given time. Each animator achieves roughly 13.5 seconds of animation per week, with each episode taking 110 weeks to complete. Three episodes are usually in production simultaneously, allowing the crew to get as much work done as possible.<\/p>\n

The panel also showed off the very first animation tests for both Pichu and SirFetch\u2019d, as well as an official trailer for the show, which will release sometime in 2027. <\/p>\n

The series’ official logline<\/u><\/a> reads: “Our heroes embark on a gallant quest to help and protect Pok\u00e9mon across the region. Their missions rarely go as planned, but their noble deeds forge their friendship as they step bravely into the unknown. Peril, alliances, rivalries, extraordinary Pok\u00e9mon, and endless laughs await them.”<\/p>\n

As told by the folks at Aardman, Escavalier will serve as the main antagonist of the series, which they described as a \u201cknight that could challenge and compete against\u201d Sirfetch\u2019d.<\/p>\n
