The 60th anniversary of Star Trek<\/em> arrives September 8, marking the date the show debuted back in 1966. The future of the sci-fi mainstay may be in flux, but there\u2019s still plenty to look back on and enjoy. As you\u2019d expect, a host of screenings are planned in celebration, but there are also some more offbeat tie-ins on the calendar, including themed episodes of game shows Let\u2019s Make a Deal<\/em> (which has actually been around even longer than Star Trek<\/em>) and The Price Is Right<\/em>.<\/p>\n

However, the quirkiest event is happening at London\u2019s Science Museum, where fans will gather to set a Guinness World Record for the most people performing the Vulcan Salute.<\/p>\n

According to the museum\u2019s website, where you can find more details about how to sign up if you\u2019re planning to attend, the record-setting attempt will take place as part of Star Trek<\/em> Lates, an after-hours event that will also let you tour the venue\u2019s Star Trek<\/em> Warp Trail, featuring an array of costumes and props. (If you\u2019re not local to London, you can still add your Vulcan Salute to the tally by participating online.)<\/p>\n

It would be highly illogical if the Vulcan Salute gathering were the only event planned for Star Trek<\/em> Day, so the official Star Trek<\/em>\u00a0website has posted a worldwide round-up. Other than watching the current season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds<\/em>, the most accessible way to join the fun is heading to one of 750 theaters across the U.S. that are screening classic Star Trek<\/em> films in 4K alongside curated episodes of Star Trek: The Original Series<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Those screenings run from September 4-8, with collectible U.S.S. Enterprise<\/em> popcorn buckets to go with them (of course). Here\u2019s the line-up:<\/p>\n

Friday, Sept. 4 \u2013 Star Trek: The Motion Picture \u2013 The Director\u2019s Edition<\/em> with \u201cThe Changeling\u201d<\/p>\n

Sunday, Sept. 6 \u2013 Star Trek III: The Search for Spock<\/em> with \u201cAmok Time\u201d<\/p>\n

Monday, Sept. 7 \u2013 Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home<\/em> with \u201cThe City on the Edge of Forever\u201d<\/p>\n
