More than six months after the 2026 Grammy Awards, where Jelly Roll insisted he would state his political views within the following week, he finally did so loudly and unequivocally during his last night guest hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live<\/em>, ABC\u2019s late-night talkshow.<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t\tExplore\t\t<\/p>\n<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n \t\t\t\t\tJelly Roll\t\t<\/p>\n<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n See latest videos, charts and news<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \n\tJelly Roll has been a headline-grabbing machine this week, from his sweet words about the late Dolly Parton to the backlash from MAGA and America\u2019s network of conservative media when he roasted Donald Trump, more than once. Backstage, Jelly told the press room that he was ready, willing and able to share his thoughts on the state of politics in his homeland.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cI have a lot to say about it and I\u2019m going to in the next week. And everybody\u2019s going to hear exactly what I have to say in the most loud and clear way I\u2019ve ever spoken in my life. I look forward to it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \n\tHe prefaced that, in his own self-deprecating way, by saying that \u201cpeople shouldn\u2019t care to hear about my opinion, I\u2019m a dumb redneck.\u201d Then came nothing but silence. <\/p>\n \n\t\u201cCan I get something off my chest,\u201d he said on Kimmel<\/em>. \u201cFor the last six months, I\u2019ve watched people decide who I am, what I am, what I believe, what I support and what I don\u2019t support. And I felt that even more this week, just because I told a couple of jokes. And honestly, this goes back further for me, y\u2019all.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\t This goes back to February this year, and the Grammys, a night where his dreams came true. \u201cIt was the single greatest moment and greatest honor of my career. I got called on that stage. I got handed my award that I\u2019ve been dreaming about since I was a child. And immediately after, I was asked to make what I felt at the time was a political stands. I fumbled my words.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tLooking back, \u201cI don\u2019t necessarily regret asking for more time before I spoke. I wish more people took more time before they spoke. But I do wish I had found the words to express my heart just a little bit sooner. But I was afraid that anything I was going to say was going to be immediately taken as a political statement.\u201d He continued, \u201cby trying so hard not to make a political statement, I became one. I spent my entire career trying not to belong to a political party. Partly because until March of this year, I wasn\u2019t allowed to vote. But now that I have that right, it\u2019s one I plan to exercise this coming November.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tThis Nov. 3 is, of course, the midterm elections. He said he was neither a <\/p>\n \n\tHolding back tears, Roll admitted on Kimmel<\/em> that he was a \u201cman of second chances.\u201d Everyone deserves to stumble and to make a comeback.<\/p>\n \n\tEarlier in the week, Jelly quipped\u00a0that he\u2019d \u201clost an entire Donald Trump\u201d when describing his own\u00a0300-pound weight loss\u00a0and at one point joked, \u201cMr. President, from one fat pig to another, take it from me that physical fitness is very important.\u201d <\/p>\n \n\tLater, after the right-wing raised a collective angry fist, he remarked: \u201cWe can debate whether this president is mentally fit, but I think we can all agree he is certainly not physically fit,\u201d before introducing a parody commercial for a fake weight-loss drug called \u201cDonjaro.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tProving that his \u201cfat-on-fat\u201d jokes hit a soft spot, Florida Rep. Jimmy Patronis went on to say that, because of the singer teased Trump about his girth, Jelly Roll is unwelcome in the panhandle.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cI have joked all week all week long on this show about how I\u2019m a convicted felon who was given the opportunity to change his life. And the fact is, that wasn\u2019t a joke y\u2019all,\u201d he remarked on Thursday night. Jelly is on a roll. He\u2019s living the dream. The American dream. \u201cIt can\u2019t just be for people like me,\u201d he insisted. \u201cThe American dream should be for everybody.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tWatch Jelly Roll\u2019s monologue below.<\/p>\n\n
