Snoop Dogg is the latest rapper to bring his life story to Hollywood. The hip-hop legend broke the news that production was already in motion in April\u00a0 on a biopic simply titled Snoop<\/em> while speaking at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, and the Universal Pictures film is slated to hit theaters across the U.S. on Aug. 6, 2027.<\/p>\n
The biopic will be directed by Hustle & Flow<\/em>\u2018s Craig Brewer, while 8 Mile<\/em> producer Brian Grazer is set to produce the film alongside the West Coast rap legend.<\/p>\n
\u201cAfter my brothers told their story in\u00a0Straight Outta Compton<\/em>, it\u2019s my turn,\u201d Snoop said at CinemaCon in reference to N.W.A\u2019s 2015 biopic. \u201c[Brewer] just showed us how hard it is out here for a pimp from\u00a0Hustle & Flow<\/em>. And then last year, he got us all singing \u2018Sweet Caroline,’\u201d he added of Brewer\u2019s 2025 film Song Sung Blue<\/em>.<\/p>\n
Fellow rap deities like 2Pac,\u00a0The Notorious B.I.G., Eminem, N.W.A and 50 Cent\u00a0have all had movies made at least loosely about their life stories, and now it\u2019s Snoop\u2019s turn to hit the silver screen.<\/p>\n
Snoop is still releasing new music more than 30 years into his career and he\u2019s completed unfamothable side missions, like being a correspondent for the Olympics and co-hosting a cooking show with Martha Stewart.<\/p>\n
The Snoop<\/em> movie has already started to make casting announcements, with roles carved out for 2Pac, Dr. Dre, Suge Knight and Warren G, all of whom played a significant role in Snoop\u2019s music career, as well as Snoop himself.<\/p>\n
