Toy Story 5 is officially coming to Disney+ on September 23. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The streaming release date is just over four months after the film\u2019s initial release in theaters, a standard timeline for Pixar movies. A spread of 4K Blu-rays, including a highly sought after 4K steelbook<\/a>, will be released the day before, on September 22. The movie is also already available to rent or purchase digitally<\/a> from PVOD platforms. <\/p>\n

A new trailer<\/a> was released in anticipation of the Disney+ arrival that largely features an army of Buzz Lightyears. The streaming release announcement is also accompanied by a new music video for the piano version of the Taylor Swift song<\/a> featured in the movie, \u201cI Knew It, I Knew You,” now available on Spotify, Apple Music, and Disney+. <\/p>\n

Toy Story 5 grossed<\/a> just over $1.1 billion worldwide with a reported budget of $250 million, surpassing the box office performance of the previous sequel, Toy Story 4<\/a>. The Toy Story franchise as a whole has now grossed over $3.3 billion, and only slightly trails behind Universal’s Despicable Me as the second highest-grossing animated media franchise<\/a> of all time. <\/p>\n

The latest Pixar sequel introduces a new villain, LilyPad, tackling the topic of technology for kids<\/a>. Following the end of Toy Story 4, Woody is a little less of a main character<\/a>, with the movie instead focusing more on Jessie, Buzz, and a gaggle of new characters. <\/p>\n

The movie currently sits at a 93% rating on Rotten Tomatoes<\/a>, the lowest in the very acclaimed franchise<\/a>. Critic Clint Gage gave the film a 7\/10 in his review for IGN<\/a>, saying it ultimately “manages to pull off an adventurous and resonant conclusion.” <\/p>\n
