Blake Griffin is ready for the next stage of his career, or, as he put it on X, a recreation of the final years of his NBA career: Sitting down, musing on the hottest topics in sports.<\/p>\n

The retired six-time NBA All-Star is launching a weekly late-night talk show set to debut on the first day of the NBA season, Oct. 20, on Prime Video and YouTube, \u201cThe Hollywood Reporter<\/a>\u201d first reported, and Griffin later confirmed on social media.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Stepback with Blake Griffin,\u201d starring a player better known for his high-flying dunks than his stepback jumpers, will be produced by Amazon\u2019s Wondery, a podcast studio and network that also produces \u201cNew Heights with Jason & Travis Kelce.\u201d<\/p>\n

Seated at a desk, Griffin will discuss burning topics around the sports world, touching on issues like NIL, political polarization, taxpayer-funded stadiums, gambling and more, according to a planned news release reviewed by Steven Zeitchik of \u201cThe Hollywood Reporter.\u201d<\/p>\n

His new venture is inspired by his affinity for popular late-night shows \u2014 as well as his penchant for getting laughs.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve watched and idolized shows like The Daily Show and Last Week Tonight, so to follow in their footsteps while putting my own stamp on the genre is an amazing opportunity that I\u2019m grateful to take part in,\u201d he said in a statement in the news release, according to Zeitchik.<\/p>\n

The 37-year-old is a regular member of Amazon\u2019s NBA studio show and has tried his hand at comedy in the past. He starred in a four-episode series titled \u201cComedy by Blake<\/a>\u201d with Funny or Die, released in October 2018, and played himself in a 2016 episode of Comedy Central\u2019s \u201cBroad City.\u201d Griffin has also done stand-up comedy, including appearances at the Laugh Factory in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

Episodes for the new show have already been recorded in front of a live audience and are in post-production. A new episode will be released every Tuesday, primarily anchored by Griffin\u2019s commentary.<\/p>\n

Griffin spent 14 years in the NBA between 2010 and 2023, earning five All-NBA nods during stints on the LA Clippers, Detroit Pistons, Brooklyn Nets and Boston Celtics. He was a finalist for this year\u2019s Naismith Hall of Fame Class but was not selected.<\/p>\n

Once a dominant force, he averaged 15.5 minutes per game over the final two seasons of his NBA career with dozens of DNPs.<\/p>\n
