A person drove a car into a crowd in the northwestern French city of Caen on Wednesday, killing at least one person and injuring about a dozen others, firefighters and police said, according to the AFP news agency and BFM TV.<\/p>\n

A police source said the driver rammed the car into the crowd near the city’s train station after a fight in the area, and one suspect was arrested, AFP reported.<\/p>\n

BFM TV reported that two people had been killed in the incident.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The driver fled and was later arrested 20 kilometers (12 miles) away, a source told AFP.<\/p>\n

The incident occurred around 10:00 p.m. local time (2000 UTC\/GMT) near a bus stop close to the Caen train station. According to initial reports, a black vehicle drove into several people who were in the area.<\/p>\n

Police cordoned off the area while emergency services attended to the victims.<\/p>\n

Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the incident and trying to determine whether the attack was intentional.<\/p>\n
