seven Airbus A330 MRTT aircraft for air refuelling and strategic transport, with four due in Poland by 2030 under the SAFE programme.<br \/>\n    <\/h2>\n<div class=\"c-article-content js-article-content\">\n<p>Poland is set to receive four Airbus A330 MRTT tanker and transport aircraft by 2030 under a joint procurement programme with Spain worth an estimated \u20ac5.4 countries to jointly acquire at least seven aircraft, according to Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister W\u0142adys\u0142aw Kosiniak-Kamysz.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMost importantly, by 2030 Poland will receive four aircraft,\u201d Kosiniak-Kamysz said on X, adding that the next step would be the signing of the final contract.<\/p>\n<p>The purchase will use financing from the European Union&#8217;s Security Action for Europe (SAFE) programme, with Poland&#8217;s participation covered by an annex to the Spanish framework agreement.<\/p>\n<h2>\u2018Essential equipment for our Air Force\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>Kosiniak-Kamysz said acquiring the aircraft would provide an important new capability for Poland as its Air Force brings F-35 fighter jets into service.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is essential equipment for our Air Force, which is in the process of bringing F-35 aircraft into service,\u201d he said. \u201cIt is also an important decision for NATO&#8217;s security and for Poland&#8217;s security.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The framework agreement will remain in force for seven years once formally concluded.<\/p>\n<h2>What kind of aircraft is it?<\/h2>\n<p>The Airbus A330 MRTT is a military tanker and transport aircraft based on the civilian A330 airliner.
