It wasn&#8217;t clear whether Russia had also sought an international arrest warrant.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Martens is wanted in connection with a question he had put to Ukrainian President <a class=\"internal-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dw.com\/en\/volodymyr-zelenskyy\/t-65603134\">Volodymyr Zelenskyy<\/a> in Belgrade, when he asked what European countries could do to help <a class=\"internal-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dw.com\/en\/russias-war-in-ukraine\/t-60931789\">Ukraine &#8220;kill more Russian soldiers.&#8221;<\/a> The FAZ has apologized for the framing\u00a0of the question but said that seeking to arrest Martens over unfortunate phrasing was an attempt at &#8220;intimidation&#8221; of the free press.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Whether this question was put forward in a clever manner could be disputed. He told the man, &#8220;you win some, you lose some,&#8221; only for the dissatisfied customer to leave, warning that it was not the end of the matter.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;That was my mistake,&#8221; Breitner conceded, speculating that he could have headed off trouble at the pass. &#8220;I should have just given him a free\u00a0loaf.&#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>An\u00a0official\u00a0from the weights and measurements authority arrived a few weeks later. He said that Breitner would have to purchase precision weighing equipment to guarantee an exact replication of the stated per-kilo price,\u00a0or cease all sales of half loaves in future.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Breitner said he\u00a0had not realized that he was in fact already obliged to do this. The rates or proposed rates have changed multiple times during his second term.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"internal-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dw.com\/en\/tariffs-or-not-how-eu-is-dealing-with-us-dealmaking\/a-77100109\">Trump&#8217;s most recent threats in May were to increase tariffs on EU cars from 15% to 25%<\/a>, although a VDA official said last week that this latest pronouncement had not been implemented in most cases.
