href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/roger-federer\">Roger Federer<\/a> has shared his thoughts on Novak Djokovic\u2019s chances of winning the 2026 US Open and also addressed if he would ever come out of retirement.<\/p>\n<p>The Swiss legend, who called time on his remarkable career in 2022, is in New York to play in an exhibition event with Andre Agassi, John McEnroe and Andy Roddick in Arthur Ashe Stadium.<\/p>\n<p>Federer played 50 matches against Djokovic between 2006 and 2020, and he amassed a 23-27 record against his Serbian rival.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/us-open\">Djokovic<\/a> will aim to win a record-extending 25th Grand Slam title at the 2026 US Open, having secured his most recent major at the 2023 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/us-open\">US Open<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The 39-year-old can also equal the Open Era record of five US Open men\u2019s singles titles \u2014 which is shared by Federer, Pete Sampras and Jimmy Connors.<\/p>\n<p>During a press conference at Flushing Meadows, Federer was asked for his verdict on Djokovic\u2019s US Open hopes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI mean, I feel like whenever Novak enters any tournament, for that matter, or major, he\u2019ll be in it with a shot,\u201d said the 20-time major champion.<\/p>\n<h2>More US Open News<\/h2>\n<p><a And I think that\u2019s also one of the reasons he\u2019s still playing because he actually truly must believe that he can still do it. And that\u2019s my opinion too.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The former world No 1 also divulged that he has not seen the <em>Novak Djokovic: The Wolf in Winter\u00a0<\/em>documentary.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI haven\u2019t seen the documentary yet. And, well, I mean, I just think we\u2019ve played each other almost 50 times on all the different surfaces and all the biggest courts,\u201d Federer added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a pleasure to play against an incredible player, unbelievable fighter, figured out his game, became bigger and stronger and better. And it\u2019s amazing that he\u2019s still going. I\u2019m very impressed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Asked if he could come out of retirement like Serena Williams, Federer\u2019s response was clear.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo, no, no, no. No, not at all. Thanks for asking. I wasn\u2019t sure if the question was going to get asked, but I\u2019m happy you did so I can clarify in case anybody thought,\u201d said the 44-year-old.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo, no, no. Not at all. And I think you, anyway, have to enter the doping pool. Like, God, there\u2019s way too many obstacles.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd I\u2019m too busy. I\u2019m barely finding time to play any exhos, you know. So imagine a tour and the body is done. But I\u2019m very happy how I\u2019m feeling.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo, all good.
