Progress is underway on a massive new lift installation at western Colorado\u2019s Powderhorn Mountain Resort<\/a>.<\/strong> The Wild West Express project aims to replace the old West End fixed-grip double chairlift, which serviced roughly half of Powderhorn\u2019s 1,600-acre footprint, with a new high-speed detachable quad chair.<\/p>\n

The old lift, installed all the way back in 1972, was one of the longest fixed-grip chairlifts on the continent, at over 7,000 feet in length.<\/strong> It rose well over 1,000 vertical feet from the valley floor to the resort\u2019s western summit, and had a brutal 13.5-minute ride time.<\/p>\n
