Two people were killed when a small aircraft registered in Germany<\/a> crashed near Croatia’s<\/a>\u00a0coastal city of Zadar, local media reported on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Croatian police said the two-seater motor glider, which can fly with a small engine\u00a0or glide\u00a0without one, went down in the Velebit mountains on Friday.<\/p>\n

Croatian media outlet Jutarnji list<\/em> cited the\u00a0mountain rescue agency as describing the conditions as “extremely difficult.”<\/p>\n

The fog, which reduced visibility to around 2 meters,\u00a0also prevented the deployment of search drones, Jutarnji list<\/em> reported.<\/p>\n

The agency sent a 35-person rescue team to the crash site, local media said.<\/p>\n
