Selwyn Snow Resort<\/a> in New South Wales, Australia, has closed for the remainder of the 2026 ski season, becoming the second Australian ski resort to end its season early after warm temperatures and rain eroded the country\u2019s already fragile snowpack. <\/strong>The decision comes just one day after Victoria\u2019s Mount Baw Baw Alpine Resort announced it will wrap up its 2026 lift operations following a 57-day season.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter a challenging winter, we have made the difficult decision to close Selwyn Snow Resort for the remainder of the 2026 snow season.\u201d<\/p>\n

Selwyn had hoped to reopen this weekend after temporarily closing following heavy rain on Thursday. However, the cold temperatures needed to rebuild its snowpack through snowmaking failed to arrive. <\/strong>\u201cFollowing Thursday\u2019s rain and the impact on our remaining snow cover, our Mountain Team worked tirelessly to give us every possible chance of reopening,\u201d the resort announced. \u201cUnfortunately, the snowmaking temperatures we needed didn\u2019t arrive, and the time has come to call it a season.\u201d The closure marks the first NSW resort to close for the 2026 season, which has seen below average snowfalls across Australian resorts.<\/p>\n
