Speaking to <em>Variety<\/em>, he was asked if he had been part of the auditions taking place in the UK. The longest gap between Bond films is currently six years and five months, the time between<\/p>\n<p>Timothy Dalton\u2019s last film <em>Licence to Kill<\/em> (1989) and Pierce Brosnan\u2019s debut in <em>GoldenEye<\/em> (1995). If the new film is released after February 2028, it would break that record.<\/p>\n<p>The new star would be the seventh actor to play the role in the official EON productions franchise. Numerous names have emerged as contenders to replace Daniel Craig, who bowed out in 2021\u2019s <em>No Time To Die<\/em>, with <em>Wuthering Heights<\/em> star Elordi nearing the top of the list for most onlookers.<\/p>\n<div class=\"td-a-ad id_inline_ad0 id_ad_content-horiz-center\"><span class=\"td-adspot-title\">Advertisement<\/span>  <\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-article-1\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The Australian actor was in London to promote his new film, directed by Ridley Scott and co-starring Josh Brolin and Margaret Qualley. Speaking to <em>Variety<\/em>, he was asked if he had been part of the auditions taking place in the UK. If the new film is released after February 2028, it would break that record.<\/p>\n<p>The new star would be the seventh actor to play the role in the official EON productions franchise.
