last, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/carlos-alcaraz\">Carlos Alcaraz<\/a> finally confirmed that he would be playing the US Open, bringing his five-month hiatus away from tennis to an end.<\/p>\n<p>The Spaniard has been missing on the ATP Tour since suffering a wrist injury at the Barcelona Open, which has subsequently kept him out of Roland Garros and Wimbledon.<\/p>\n<p>It was touch and go whether Alcaraz would be ready to return in time for the US Open, but a post in collaboration with Fabrizio Romana confirmed the news on the 20th August.<\/p>\n<p>On the very same day, Alcaraz was taking to the court in Spain to play alongside Holger Rune, which he has been doing all week with the Dane.<\/p>\n<p>Both men are out of action on the ATP Tour, with Rune suffering an ACL injury at the Stockholm Open last October, which has kept him out for nearly a year now.<\/p>\n<p>With both men looking to get fit ahead of the final section of the ATP Tour, the pair have been href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/us-open\">US Open<\/a> and he is expected to fly to the United States on Monday, 24th August.<\/p>\n<p>There is wild speculation that Alcaraz will play the US Open Mixed Doubles alongside <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/serena-williams\">Serena Williams<\/a>, with the tournament taking place in the Grand Slam\u2019s \u2018Opening Week\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>It will provide Alcaraz with a good opportunity to continue to get match practice and the high-profile doubles pairing will undoubtedly be one of the biggest talking points of the whole tournament.<\/p>\n<p>Alcaraz played the inaugural event in 2025 alongside <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/emma-raducanu\">Emma Raducanu<\/a>, but they were beaten in the first round of the tournament by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/jack-draper\">Jack Draper<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/jessica-pegula\">Jessica Pegula<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Williams and Alcaraz are expected to be given one of the remaining wildcards, with the likes of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/Felix-Auger-ALiassime\">Felix Auger-Aliassime<\/a> and <a will be defending the full 2000 points after winning the Grand Slam in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>That will put Auger-Aliassime, who is currently the world No 4 on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/ATP-Tour\">ATP Tour<\/a>, within touching distance of the Spaniard, so an early exit for the world No 3 could cause another slide down the
