The five-time Tour de France champion is the hyper-favorite for the red jersey in his first appearance at La Vuelta<\/em> since 2019.<\/p>\n

Primo\u017e Rogli\u010d, Felix Gall, Richard Carapaz, and Oscar Onley are among those hoping to hang with King Pog in the onslaught of climbs loaded into this year\u2019s race.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Wout van Aert vs. Mads Pedersen will make for a mouthwatering rivalry in the chase for the sprint stages and the green jersey.<\/p>\n

Other star names to watch out for in the final grand tour of 2026 include fast-finishing Brit Matthew Brennan, 20-year-old wunderkind Pablo Torres, and USA\u2019s fan favorite, Sepp Kuss.<\/p>\n

Kuss and Matthew Riccitello lead the small North American contingent of the 2026 Vuelta a Espa\u00f1a. Five U.S. riders and only one Canadian and one Mexican will be at the start line on Saturday, August 22.<\/p>\n

The Vuelta rolls out this Saturday with a city center time trial in Poga\u010dar\u2019s home-frome-home, Monaco. The red jersey will be awarded 23 days later on September 13 after a showstopper final stage in Granada centered on circuits of the climb to the Alhambra.<\/p>\n
