This means that 38.5 per cent of all music released last month was made with the involvement of AI to some degree.<\/p>\n<p>SubmitHub, which lets users submit music to playlists and blogs, launched its AI detection tool, SH Labs, earlier this summer. The function aims to highlight a \u201cgrowing disclosure problem\u201d with artificial intelligence in music.<\/p>\n<p>Jason Grishkoff, SubmitHub founder, explained: \u201cI think the path forward for AI music is disclosure. The latter is a performance rights organisation that won a landmark court case against AI music generator platform Suno last month.<\/p>\n<p>Bandcamp banned all AI-created music at the start of this year, saying: \u201cWe reserve the right to remove any music on suspicion of being AI-generated.\u201d Beatport followed suit just last week, promising \u201cgreater transparency\u201d for listeners while \u201cprotecting human creativity\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in the summer, TIDAL shared a new policy to crack down on\u00a0AI-created music. The online service confirmed that it would not be paying royalties to any material made entirely by artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n<p>Spotify, meanwhile, is introducing a new labelling system so that users can quickly identify artists and content created by the rising tech. Elsewhere, Deezer has revealed that AI-generated music now surpasses 50 per cent of daily uploads on the platform.<\/p>\n<div class=\"td-a-ad id_inline_ad2 id_ad_content-horiz-center\"><span class=\"td-adspot-title\">Advertisement<\/span>  <\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-article-2\" class=\"lazy-ad\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Apple Music had earlier unveiled plans to let users know if they were listening to music that had been made using AI.<\/p>\n<p>In March, figures from the UK music industry responded to new government action on copyright, which prevents AI firms from using existing work without permission. However, they argued that much more needed to be done beyond that first step.<\/p>\n<p>Major acts such as Paul McCartney, Kate Bush, Dua Lipa and Elton John previously led a campaign urging the government to protect artists\u2019 work from being ripped off. This came after the government put forward controversial plans to change copyright rules to let AI firms \u201csteal\u201d copyrighted works without paying or seeking consent from music creators, writers and artists.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, SoundCloud updated its AI policy in response to backlash. The service had faced criticism over appearing to permit content uploaded to the streamer to be used to train AI. \u201cOur position is simple: AI should support artists, not replace them,\u201d said CEO Eliah Seton. \u201cAny use of these tools on SoundCloud will continue to reflect that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In February, Google gave its virtual assistant Gemini the ability to create AI-generated music.<\/p>\n<p>A study in 2025 found that 97 per cent of people \u201ccan\u2019t tell the difference\u201d between real and AI music. The previous year, another study warned that\u00a0people working in music were likely to lose a quarter of their income to AI over the next four years.<\/p>\n<p>In other news, Boy George has hit out at Bandcamp for removing his pro-Israel song \u2018We Will Dance Again\u2019, which was made using AI. Bandcamp told <em>NME<\/em> that the track was\u00a0\u201cremoved\u2004\u200bbased\u2004\u200bon violation of our\u00a0Acceptable\u2004\u200bUse &amp; Moderation Policy, which in specific\u2004\u200bregard\u2004\u200bto this case, prohibits music and\u2004\u200baudio that\u2004\u200bis wholly\u2004\u200bor in substantial part created, composed,\u2004\u200bor\u2004\u200bgenerated\u2004\u200bby\u2004\u200bartificial intelligence\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Empire Of The Sun\u2019s Luke Steele recently admitted that he uses AI to make music, saying the tech can \u201cempower artists that know how to use it\u201d. Tyga said he used artificial intelligence as a \u201ctool\u201d on his new album \u2018$tarface\u2019, too. SubmitHub. This means that 38.5 per cent of all music released last month was made with the involvement of AI to some degree.<\/p>\n<p>SubmitHub, which lets users submit music to playlists and blogs, launched its AI detection tool, SH Labs, earlier this summer. The function aims to highlight a \u201cgrowing disclosure problem\u201d with artificial intelligence in music.<\/p>\n<p>Jason Grishkoff, SubmitHub founder, explained: \u201cI think the path forward for AI music is disclosure. The latter is a performance rights organisation that won a landmark court case against AI music generator platform Suno last month.<\/p>\n<p>Bandcamp banned all AI-created music at the start of this year, saying: \u201cWe reserve the right to remove any music on suspicion of being AI-generated.\u201d Beatport followed suit just last week, promising \u201cgreater transparency\u201d for listeners while \u201cprotecting human creativity\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in the summer, TIDAL shared a new policy to crack down on\u00a0AI-created music. The online service confirmed that it would not be paying royalties to any material made entirely by artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n<p>Spotify, meanwhile, is introducing a new labelling system so that users can quickly identify artists and content created by the rising tech. Elsewhere, Deezer has revealed that AI-generated music now surpasses 50 per cent of daily uploads on the platform.<\/p>\n<div class=\"td-a-ad id_inline_ad2 id_ad_content-horiz-center\"><span class=\"td-adspot-title\">Advertisement<\/span>  <\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-article-2\" class=\"lazy-ad\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Apple Music had earlier unveiled plans to let users know if they were listening to music that had been made using AI.<\/p>\n<p>In March, figures from the UK music industry responded to new government action on copyright, which prevents AI firms from using existing work without permission. However, they argued that much more needed to be done beyond that first step.<\/p>\n<p>Major acts such as Paul McCartney, Kate Bush, Dua Lipa and Elton John previously led a campaign urging the government to protect artists\u2019 work from being ripped off. This came after the government put forward controversial plans to change copyright rules to let AI firms \u201csteal\u201d copyrighted works without paying or seeking consent from music creators, writers and artists.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, SoundCloud updated its AI policy in response to backlash. The service had faced criticism over appearing to permit content uploaded to the streamer to be used to train AI. \u201cOur position is simple: AI should support artists, not replace them,\u201d said CEO Eliah Seton. \u201cAny use of these tools on SoundCloud will continue to reflect that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In February, Google gave its virtual assistant Gemini the ability to create AI-generated music.<\/p>\n<p>A study in 2025 found that 97 per cent of people \u201ccan\u2019t tell the difference\u201d between real and AI music. The previous year, another study warned that\u00a0people working in music were likely to lose a quarter of their income to AI over the next four years.<\/p>\n<p>In other news, Boy George has hit out at Bandcamp for removing his pro-Israel song \u2018We Will Dance Again\u2019, which was made using AI. Bandcamp told <em>NME<\/em> that the track was\u00a0\u201cremoved\u2004\u200bbased\u2004\u200bon violation of our\u00a0Acceptable\u2004\u200bUse &amp; Moderation Policy, which in specific\u2004\u200bregard\u2004\u200bto this case, prohibits music and\u2004\u200baudio that\u2004\u200bis wholly\u2004\u200bor in substantial part created, composed,\u2004\u200bor\u2004\u200bgenerated\u2004\u200bby\u2004\u200bartificial intelligence\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Empire Of The Sun\u2019s Luke Steele recently admitted that he uses AI to make music, saying the tech can \u201cempower artists that know how to use it\u201d. Tyga said he used artificial intelligence as a \u201ctool\u201d on his new album \u2018$tarface\u2019, too.
