Travelers with flights to or from Aspen are being advised to check directly with their airlines for the latest information.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Related: <\/strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/snowbrains.com\/the-7-friendliest-u-s-airports-for-skiers-and-snowboarders\/\"><strong>The 7 Friendliest U.S. Airports for Skiers and Snowboarders<\/strong><\/a><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The fire, which authorities are calling the Kittle Fire, was reported in the Triangle Peak area near Lenado, roughly three miles southwest of Ruedi Reservoir.<\/strong> According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aspentimes.com\/news\/smoke-reported-above-triangle-peak-near-lenado\/?utm_source=newsletter&amp;utm_source_platform=pinpoint&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=BREAKINGNEWS&amp;utm_id=QlJFQUtJTkdORVdTMjAyNi0wOC0xOSAxNjoyMjowMA==&amp;utm_term=2026-08-19\"><em>Aspen Times<\/em><\/a>, the Pitkin County Sheriff\u2019s Office said at approximately 5:55 p.m. that the fire had grown to about 10 acres and was burning entirely on U.S. Forest Service land within Pitkin County.<\/p>\n<p><strong>At least two helicopters, three fixed-wing aircraft, and smokejumpers were responding to the fire, according to the Sheriff\u2019s Office.<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-15\" style=\"margin: 8px auto;text-align: center;display: block;clear: both\">\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>The wildfire response has now affected operations at Aspen\/Pitkin County Airport, also known as Sardy Field.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Aspen airport officials announced that all arrivals and departures have been suspended until further notice because of the fire activity near the airport\u2019s airspace. <\/strong>At 6:32 p.m., the airport provided another update saying SkyWest had canceled all flights for the remainder of the day. A temporary flight restriction is also in effect until sundown. Airport officials said there was no definitive reopening time at the time of the announcement.
