Eala are set for their doubles debut in the US Open Mixed Doubles, after the pair received a wildcard to play the tournament.<\/p>\n<p>Neither player played the inaugurual tournament last year, but they will absolutely be one of the star attractions this year, partly due to Eala\u2019s increased popularity in recent months.<\/p>\n<p>The Filipina star has been a real attraction on the North American hardcourt swing after winning the Washington Open title and selling out matches in Toronto and Cincinnati.<\/p>\n<p>Eala\u2019s popularity is set to continue at the US Open and the Grand Slam has cashed in by signing her up to the doubles, as well as an exhibition match with Iva Jovic in the tournament\u2019s opening week.<\/p>\n<h2>More Alex Eala news<\/h2>\n<p><a Open<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Speaking to <a rel=\"noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=pHt4chkVwXI\" target=\"_blank\">The Tennis Channel<\/a> about her his partnership with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/alex-eala\">Eala<\/a> came about, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/Felix-Auger-ALiassime\">Auger-Aliassime<\/a> said: \u201cWell, same agency and then I think the people in our teams kind of talked and made that happen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut yeah, it\u2019s a great opportunity because obviously I didn\u2019t play last year, but this time around to kind of feel what it\u2019s like to have the Eala effect and fan base behind me. It\u2019s going to be it\u2019s going to be funny because she\u2019s younger than me, but she has a fan base, right? Like she\u2019s carrying the the crowd. So, it\u2019s going to be interesting.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite the gruelling schedule on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/ATP-Tour\">ATP Tour<\/a>, Auger-Aliassime is excited to add another competitive tournament ahead of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/us-open\">US Open<\/a>, to keep him raring to go for the final Grand Slam of the year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut, you know what it is? I think what\u2019s great is it keeps you in that competitive mindset,\u201d said the Canadian.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s so different when you\u2019re kind of relaxed and you\u2019re training and doing appearances and sponsor stuff, like it\u2019s different than being out there on the court when somebody wants to beat you, right? Like that that competitive thing when you\u2019re out there in the arena.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo to stay in touch with that during the week with the mixed doubles, that is also not as much pressure as the singles court, I think is a great thing.
