\n\tThe Sunday (Aug. 16) event, held at Miami\u2019s Kaseya Center, brought together more than 30 artists for an evening of music and solidarity. Marc Anthony, Luis Fonsi, Chayanne, Ricardo Montaner, Feid, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Chino y Nacho, Jay Wheeler, Elena Rose, Silvestre Dangond, Gente de Zona, Mau y Ricky, Olga Ta\u00f1\u00f3n, Lasso, Piso 21, Corina Smith, Joaquina, Nella, Micro TDH and others participated in the benefit.<\/p>\n
\n\tPreviously announced as\u00a0Unidos por Venezuela in response to the magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 earthquakes that struck the country on June 24, the initiative expanded its focus to include Colombia after a magnitude 7.5 earthquake took place there on Aug. 10. Proceeds from the event will support humanitarian programs including food, medical care, shelter, housing, child protection, mental health services, education and infrastructure reconstruction, according to organizers.<\/p>\n
\n\t\u201cThe important thing is that we\u2019re helping in the way we know how to help,\u201d Felipe Pimiento, co-founder of the initiative and executive producer, previously told Billboard<\/em>. \u201cWe know how to make music, promote music and organize concerts, and this is our way of contributing a little grain of sand to help all those affected in Venezuela and Colombia.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\t\u201cWhen it came to Venezuela, it was obviously much more delicate because people had some distrust about what was happening there. With Colombia, the situation is also a bit different. But we are taking it just as seriously,\u201d added Pimiento. \u201cWe understand that we are raising funds from the public and want to ensure that the process is very transparent and carried out correctly to help those most in need.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\tThe concert was led by CMN, Maestro Cares Foundation, TelevisaUnivision and PIMIENTO Entertainment, with support from iHeartRadio, Spotify, Creative Link, EB Public Relations and Arco Entertainment. In addition to the live show, the campaign included a televised and digital broadcast, an international telethon and multiple ways for viewers to donate, including QR codes, text messages and online contributions.<\/p>\n
