Magpies of the world listen up, because there\u2019s a shiny new Spyker in town.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s right, the bonkers Dutch supercar maker is back, and it\u2019s relaunching with this C8 Preliator XXV Coup\u00e9. Not the catchiest of names, but the looks are classic Spyker.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Of course, we first saw a car looking a little like this and called the Preliator<\/a> from Spyker way back in 2016, which was after its failed Saab venture but before a whole load of other financial troubles. After all that though, its 1999 founder Victor Muller is now back in charge, with Ukrainian-born crypto businessman Volodymyr Nosov onboard as co-owner.<\/p>\n

So, it\u2019s time for Spyker to resurrect the Preliator (which apparently means \u2018warrior\u2019 in Latin), and we\u2019re told this new XXV version gets a completely redesigned spaceframe that\u2019s engineered entirely in-house, while the aluminium body panels are newly shaped and formed by Coventry Prototype Panels in Britain.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Stand out features? Well, there are NACA ducts everywhere, a massive fin mounted atop the roof scoop and plenty of aviation references. Those rear lights are supposed to look like a jet\u2019s afterburners, and the grilles and vents deploy a wild isogrid lattice from the world of rocket-building.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s also the small matter of a mid-mounted 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 that\u2019s apparently making 800bhp and 738lb ft of torque, with all of that power being sent through what Spyker calls a \u201ctrue manual gearbox\u201d. Exposed linkage, too.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The interior is full of leather, aluminium and proper analogue dials, with the only screen being a small head-up display. And yes, each of the 25 cars that Spyker is promising to build will be fully customisable, so you won\u2019t need to have all the gold bits and orange leather. There\u2019s no word on price just yet, but if you have to ask\u2026<\/p>\n

Oh, and Spyker also says that as part of its \u2018next chapter\u2019 it has plans to return to GT3 racing and will continue development of the equally interestingly titled D8 Peking-to-Paris SUV<\/a>. That was first shown off as the D12 at the 2006 Geneva Motor Show, so might need a fair bit of work.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
