The International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) Alpine World Cup season is just around the corner.\u00a0<\/strong>And a rising American star will be rocking some new skis this winter.<\/p>\n

Slalom specialist Patrick Kenney recently announced he will compete on HEAD<\/a> skis this winter as he aims for his first career World Cup podium. <\/strong>As a part of one of the world\u2019s biggest skiing brands, the Hingham, Massachusetts, native joins an elite World Cup Rebels team stacked with some of the best alpine skiers in the world.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet\u2019s go @head_skis,\u201d the 29-year-old wrote in his Instagram announcement<\/a>. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Kenney\u2019s switch to HEAD comes just four days after announcing his departure<\/a> from his former ski sponsor, V\u00f6lkl. <\/strong>He spent five years with the German ski brand, making his first World Cup start on its skis. Kenney expressed gratitude for his former sponsor, saying he is \u201cforever grateful\u201d for V\u00f6lkl\u2019s support in the earlier parts of his professional career. But with his departure from V\u00f6lkl in the rearview mirror, Kenney now turns his attention to preparing for World Cup competition on new skis with new teammates.<\/p>\n
