\n\tFriends and fellow entertainers are paying tribute to Hayden Panettiere, the actress and singer who died this week at 36. <\/p>\n

\n\tPanettiere \u2014 best known for playing country star Juliette Barnes on Nashville<\/em> and cheerleader Claire Bennet on Heroes<\/em> \u2014 was confirmed dead by her family on Aug. 17. A cause of death has not been disclosed.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden,\u201d her father, Skip Panettiere, said in a statement, describing his daughter as \u201can incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her \u2014 and to the millions who watched her onscreen.\u201d He asked for privacy as the family processes the loss.<\/p>\n

\n\tAmong the first to react to the news was actress and close friend Selma Blair, who commented on Panettiere\u2019s final Instagram post. \u201cI love you. Don\u2019t be gone. Don\u2019t be gone. Please. Please,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI love you whale tail my friend,\u201d she added. Another read, \u201cI\u2019m dying. Please be here.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAuthor and podcast host Jay Shetty, who interviewed Panettiere on his podcast earlier this year, shared his shock in a comment on Variety\u2019s<\/em> announcement of her death. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI can\u2019t believe it. Our friendship had just begun and I was so moved by the conversation we shared earlier this year,\u201d Shetty wrote. \u201cMy love and condolences to her family and fans.\u201d Her Scream<\/em> co-star David Arquette, who had appeared alongside her at a horror convention in February, also responded to the news, writing simply, \u201cI love you Hayden.\u201d<\/p>\n

7th Heaven<\/em> actress Beverley Mitchell also left a tribute beneath the same post. \u201cPraying the news is wrong! You are such a bright light and soooo loved,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n

\n\tComedian and television host Rosie O\u2019Donnell shared a photo of Panettiere to her own Instagram, writing, \u201cOh my god \u2013 heartbroken.\u201d Jeremy Renner offered his condolences with a brief message: \u201cBless you and your family.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe SAG-AFTRA Actors union also issued a statement, writing: \u201cWe join in mourning the sudden passing of Hayden Panettiere.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe tributes reflected the breadth of a career that began in childhood and spanned commercials, soap operas, film, network television and music across more than three decades. Panettiere began performing as a child before achieving global fame with Heroes<\/em> in 2006, and went on to earn two Golden Globe nominations for Nashville<\/em>, in which she starred from 2012 to 2018.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe show\u2019s companion soundtracks, released through Big Machine Records, regularly charted on the Billboard 200 and Billboard\u2019s country and soundtrack tallies, and her recordings as Juliette Barnes \u2014 including \u201cUndermine,\u201d a duet with co-star Charles Esten that reached Billboard\u2019s Digital Song Sales chart in 2012 \u2014 became fan favorites among country listeners. She also released music earlier in her career, signing with Hollywood Records during the height of Heroes<\/em> and putting out the 2008 single \u201cWake Up Call.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tPanettiere is survived by her father, Skip Panettiere, and her daughter, Kaya. Her death comes a little more than two years after that of her younger brother, actor Jansen Panettiere, who died in February 2023 at 28.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
