Then there comes a turning point: a real ray of light has to come in through the window for you to understand there is more out there. That the world is turning and I\u2019m growing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In her <em>Cover<\/em>, Akriila also sheds light on her formative influences growing up in Santiago, from learning guitar by herself to entering the city\u2019s rich trap scene. \u201cI was part of a generation that didn\u2019t know what to do, whether to go to university. I was lost,\u201d she said of how the Covid lockdown and protests in Santiago affected her and her peers. \u201cIn the pandemic, I pushed myself to understand what I wanted, and music was very present. Then I started to release it, without thinking about anything specific.\u201d She also shared more on her love of Auto-Tune: \u201cIt\u2019s a filter, an effect, but it filters something real. I can become a character that\u2019s more playful, for example.
