What a week it\u2019s been \u2013 a spectacular bill of acts from across the musical spectrum, intriguing art and performances dotted between the stages, and something surprising at every turn. Case in point: while taking one last wander around the site, <em>NME<\/em> stumbled upon a pack of wolves on stilts parading down one path, backed by a drummer on a lit-up vehicle blasting a funk backing track. Wild!<\/p>\n<p>Before we departed the Island of Freedom, there were still plenty of highlights to be had, from a party set from Jorja Smith to Skrillex shaking the site with a juddering headline set. Read on for our final missive from Budapest for this summer.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Skrillex closed things out in style<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>There are two schools of thought when it comes to booking a headliner for the last night of a festival. On one hand, organisers can choose someone who wraps things up softly and sweetly. On the other, they can get an act in to make sure the last night is one massive party. With Sziget closing out on Saturday, it makes sense that the festival bookers took the latter option and secured Skrillex to top the bill for the grande finale.<\/p>\n<p>It was a headline set packed with pyro, smoke and lights akin to lasers lighting up the night sky, as the Los Angeles DJ and producer brought his wobbling beats and rattling bass to the main stage field. A huge crowd came to send off Sziget 2026 with his set, and they were rewarded with a raft of bangers, from remixes of Jack \u00dc\u2019s \u2018Where Are \u00dc Now\u2019 and Don Toliver\u2019s \u2018E85\u2019 to original Skrillex tracks like \u2018Ratata\u2019 and \u2018Diwali\u2019, a collaboration with rapper Beam and rising Indian singer Naisha.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3962977\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3962977\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3962977\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/skrillex-sziget-credit-Joseph-OkpakoWireImage.jpg\" alt=\"Skrillex\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1270\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3962977\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Skrillex credit: Joseph Okpako\/WireImage<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<div class=\"td-a-ad id_inline_ad1 id_ad_content-horiz-center\">\n<h5 class=\"taboola-mid-article-title\">Recommended<\/h5>\n<\/div>\n<p>Curiously, Skrillex chose to keep the screens on either side of the stage dark for the majority of the show, only flashing up footage of him bouncing around behind the decks at irregular moments. But perhaps one yelled comment to the crowd reveals his thinking behind that choice \u2013 before a mash-up of Damian Marley\u2019s \u2018Welcome To Jamrock\u2019 and Skrillex\u2019s collab with Bob\u2019s youngest son, \u2018Make It Bun Dem\u2019, he told us to \u201cput your fucking phones down\u201d and instead enjoy \u201creal motherfucking life\u201d. To their credit, the audience largely obeyed, throwing their hands up to the sky rather than their devices, lifting the energy of the set even higher.<\/p>\n<p>But still our headliner wasn\u2019t entirely satisfied. After the track was done, he meekly ordered us to \u201cscream\u201d, before repeating a few seconds later, in a much more powerful tone: \u201cSCREAAAAM.\u201d His wish was our command.<strong><em> (RD)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Zimmer90 gave Sziget a feel-good send-off<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s so crazy for us,\u201d beamed Zimmer90 singer Josch Becker, looking out at the impressive crowd that the German dream-pop band had drawn to the Revolut Stage. It was the group\u2019s first-ever show in Hungary, but they were received with such warmth and familiarity that you\u2019d think they were festival stalwarts. \u201cThere are so many people here!\u201d he marvelled. \u201cEnjoy the last day of your festival!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The trio, completed by guitarist\/bassist Finn Gronemeyer and drummer Michael Schoett, warmed up the crowd for Skrillex\u2019s thrillingly chaotic headline set by front-loading the show with the hazy pop side of their oeuvre, before moving into an admittedly quite genteel rave-up in the second half. This included the winsome \u2018Yours &amp; Mine\u2019, with Becker \u2013 clad in a blue retro Adidas trackie and shades \u2013 grooving behind the keyboard to the song\u2019s ethereal rhythm.<\/p>\n<div class=\"td-a-ad id_inline_ad2 id_ad_content-horiz-center\"><span class=\"td-adspot-title\">Advertisement<\/span><\/div>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3962971\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3962971\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3962971\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/zimmer-90-sziget-credit-Joseph-OkpakoWireImage.jpg\" alt=\"Zimmer90\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1270\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3962971\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Zimmer90 credit: Joseph Okpako\/WireImage<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>From the hazy funk guitar of \u2018Makes Me Wanna Dance\u2019 to the lithe bass of \u2018Movin\u2019\u2019 (the first track they ever released, five years ago), the lads left nothing to chance in their mission to give Sziget a feel-good send-off. Becker then introduced \u2018Learn to Let You Go\u2019, the track Zimmer90 wrote with their \u201cgood friends from New Zealand\u201d, Balu Brigada. After the stage was bathed in an orange glow for an appropriately blissed-out \u2018Summer Nights\u2019, they ushered in the after-hours section of the show with the noirish beats of \u2018What Love Is\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>It was well-timed, given that dusk was beginning to settle on the Island of Freedom, and Zimmer90 rose to the occasion with a cover of Daft Punk\u2019s nocturnal anthem \u2018One More Time\u2019. \u201cWe\u2019re gonna do a new song,\u201d Becker then announced. \u201cIt\u2019s not out yet!\u201d As he led the crowd in a call-and-response refrain \u201c<em>I can\u2019t Stop \/ I won\u2019t stop<\/em>,\u201d cascading synths washed over the Revolut Stage. Next week (August 21), she\u2019ll release her third album \u2018What Are The Odds\u2019 and the Walsall singer has just returned to Europe after two weeks supporting Harry Styles in Mexico City. \u201cI\u2019m jetlagged, it\u2019s like I\u2019m in a different time zone,\u201d she confessed at one point.<\/p>\n<p>But her party set, as her slot was dubbed, didn\u2019t get lost in translation, with the audience gathered in front of the main stage grooving to old cuts like \u2018Where Did I Go?\u2019 and \u2018Try Me\u2019, as well as fresher material. Latest single \u2018I Lied, You Lied\u2019 proved the highlight of the latter pocket of songs, piano and sax lines gently weaving through a hypnotic beat built to take you to the dancefloor and keep you there. <strong><em>(RD)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The words \u201cDO YOU WANNA GET IN TROUBLE?\u201d flashed up on video screens during Soulwax\u2019s outrageously funky midnight set on the Revolut Stage. It\u2019s the title of the burbling 2017 track that the Belgian dance collective unleashed early in the show, but also the question that Sziget implicitly asked punters on the final night of the festival. After Skrillex razed the main stage and finished the job with a sensational fireworks display, the line-up went heavy on electronic chaos into the wee hours.<\/p>\n<p>Exemplifying this, brothers David and Stephen Dewaele huddled around a huge circular unit as they pumped out their crunching electro and three drummers \u2013 three! \u2013 created a cacophony behind them. At one point, a voice was piped through the PA to explain that the unit was a set of \u2018controllers\u2019 that were themselves connected to synthesisers. A huge crowd came to send off Sziget 2026 with his set, and they were rewarded with a raft of bangers, from remixes of Jack \u00dc\u2019s \u2018Where Are \u00dc Now\u2019 and Don Toliver\u2019s \u2018E85\u2019 to original Skrillex tracks like \u2018Ratata\u2019 and \u2018Diwali\u2019, a collaboration with rapper Beam and rising Indian singer Naisha.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3962977\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3962977\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3962977\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nme.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/skrillex-sziget-credit-Joseph-OkpakoWireImage.jpg\" alt=\"Skrillex\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1270\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3962977\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Skrillex credit: Joseph Okpako\/WireImage<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<div class=\"td-a-ad id_inline_ad1 id_ad_content-horiz-center\">\n<h5 class=\"taboola-mid-article-title\">Recommended<\/h5>\n<\/div>\n<p>Curiously, Skrillex chose to keep the screens on either side of the stage dark for the majority of the show, only flashing up footage of him bouncing around behind the decks at irregular moments. But perhaps one yelled comment to the crowd reveals his thinking behind that choice \u2013 before a mash-up of Damian Marley\u2019s \u2018Welcome To Jamrock\u2019 and Skrillex\u2019s collab with Bob\u2019s youngest son, \u2018Make It Bun Dem\u2019, he told us to \u201cput your fucking phones down\u201d and instead enjoy \u201creal motherfucking life\u201d. To their credit, the audience largely obeyed, throwing their hands up to the sky rather than their devices, lifting the energy of the set even higher.<\/p>\n<p>But still our headliner wasn\u2019t entirely satisfied. After the track was done, he meekly ordered us to \u201cscream\u201d, before repeating a few seconds later, in a much more powerful tone: \u201cSCREAAAAM.\u201d His wish was our command.<strong><em> (RD)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Zimmer90 gave Sziget a feel-good send-off<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s so crazy for us,\u201d beamed Zimmer90 singer Josch Becker, looking out at the impressive crowd that the German dream-pop band had drawn to the Revolut Stage. It was the group\u2019s first-ever show in Hungary, but they were received with such warmth and familiarity that you\u2019d think they were festival stalwarts. \u201cThere are so many people here!\u201d he marvelled. \u201cEnjoy the last day of your festival!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The trio, completed by guitarist\/bassist Finn Gronemeyer and drummer Michael Schoett, warmed up the crowd for Skrillex\u2019s thrillingly chaotic headline set by front-loading the show with the hazy pop side of their oeuvre, before moving into an admittedly quite genteel rave-up in the second half. Becker then introduced \u2018Learn to Let You Go\u2019, the track Zimmer90 wrote with their \u201cgood friends from New Zealand\u201d, Balu Brigada. After the stage was bathed in an orange glow for an appropriately blissed-out \u2018Summer Nights\u2019, they ushered in the after-hours section of the show with the noirish beats of \u2018What Love Is\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>It was well-timed, given that dusk was beginning to settle on the Island of Freedom, and Zimmer90 rose to the occasion with a cover of Daft Punk\u2019s nocturnal anthem \u2018One More Time\u2019. \u201cWe\u2019re gonna do a new song,\u201d Becker then announced. \u201cIt\u2019s not out yet!\u201d As he led the crowd in a call-and-response refrain \u201c<em>I can\u2019t Stop \/ I won\u2019t stop<\/em>,\u201d cascading synths washed over the Revolut Stage. Next week (August 21), she\u2019ll release her third album \u2018What Are The Odds\u2019 and the Walsall singer has just returned to Europe after two weeks supporting Harry Styles in Mexico City. \u201cI\u2019m jetlagged, it\u2019s like I\u2019m in a different time zone,\u201d she confessed at one point.<\/p>\n<p>But her party set, as her slot was dubbed, didn\u2019t get lost in translation, with the audience gathered in front of the main stage grooving to old cuts like \u2018Where Did I Go?\u2019 and \u2018Try Me\u2019, as well as fresher material. Latest single \u2018I Lied, You Lied\u2019 proved the highlight of the latter pocket of songs, piano and sax lines gently weaving through a hypnotic beat built to take you to the dancefloor and keep you there. <strong><em>(RD)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The words \u201cDO YOU WANNA GET IN TROUBLE?\u201d flashed up on video screens during Soulwax\u2019s outrageously funky midnight set on the Revolut Stage. It\u2019s the title of the burbling 2017 track that the Belgian dance collective unleashed early in the show, but also the question that Sziget implicitly asked punters on the final night of the festival. After Skrillex razed the main stage and finished the job with a sensational fireworks display, the line-up went heavy on electronic chaos into the wee hours.<\/p>\n<p>Exemplifying this, brothers David and Stephen Dewaele huddled around a huge circular unit as they pumped out their crunching electro and three drummers \u2013 three! \u2013 created a cacophony behind them. At one point, a voice was piped through the PA to explain that the unit was a set of \u2018controllers\u2019 that were themselves connected to synthesisers.
