href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/alexander-zverev\">Alexander Zverev<\/a> has signed up to play in Germany\u2019s second-round Davis Cup tie against Croatia in September.<\/p>\n<p>The German will be playing the event alongside Yannick Hanfmann, Kevin Krawietz and Tim P\u00fctz as Germany look to secure their place in the Finals at the end of the year.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking about returning to the Davis Cup for the first time since the 2025 finals, Zverev said: \u201cI\u2019m really looking forward to playing for Germany again in front of a home crowd.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe reception in Halle after my Grand Slam victory meant a lot to me and showed how great the enthusiasm for tennis is here,\u201d said Zverev. \u201cWe want to have a great tennis weekend together and qualify for the finals again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, Zverev has been previously critical of the changes to the Davis Cup in recent years.<\/p>\n<h2>More Alexander Zverev news<\/h2>\n<p><a favour of an eight-team final, which has been held in Bologna, Italy in the past few years.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the tournament in 2025, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/alexander-zverev\">Zverev<\/a> said: \u201cThe true <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/Davis-Cup\">Davis Cup<\/a> is the home-and-away ties. The real Davis Cup is the atmosphere. To play against Italy in Italy, it would be a completely different atmosphere than playing Italy in Spain. I played against <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/rafael-nadal\">Nadal<\/a> in a bullfighting arena. That\u2019s for me the real Davis Cup.<\/p>\n<p>After playing Argentina in the quarter finals at the 2025 event, Zverev was less than complimentary about the atmosphere at the event in Italy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDon\u2019t you think it\u2019s maybe a bit sad that this kind of match and the doubles attract at most a thousand people in the stadium? If we had played in Argentina or Germany, there might have been 15,000 people. In that respect, I find it a bit sad.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, Zverev will take part for a Germany team that will be one of the favourites to win the tournament, particularly with the form he has showcased throughout the year.<\/p>\n<p>Germany\u2019s team captain, Michael Kohlmann, believes he has a strong team for the tournament: \u201cNow it\u2019s about bringing the perfect mix to the pitch and, together with the fans in Halle, creating two successful days that we will fondly remember.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Zverev has never won the Davis Cup and his semi final appearance in 2025 was his best performance to date. He won his match in the semi finals against Spain, as they lost 2-1 to the beaten finalists.<\/p>\n<p>He does, however, have a very impressive record for Germany.
