On Friday, Italian police announced that they had recovered three artworks stolen in March from the Fondazione Magnani Rocca near Parma in Northern Italy, according to <em>Reuters<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe recovered paintings are Paul Cezanne\u2019s <em>Still Life with Cherries<\/em>\u00a0(1890), Pierre-Auguste Renoir\u2019s late-career\u00a0<em>Les Poissons<\/em>\u00a0(1917), and Henri Matisse\u2019s\u00a0<em>Odalisque on the Terrace<\/em>\u00a0(1922). <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tTheir collective value is said to be in excess of $10.4 million. A\u00a0report\u00a0by the <em>BBC<\/em> in March noted that\u00a0<em>Les Poissons<\/em>, the sole oil on canvas, is worth the most, valued at around \u20ac6 million ($6.9 million). The C\u00e9zanne and Matisse are both works on paper.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe Cultural Heritage Protection Unit of the Carabinieri, the national gendarmerie of Italy, found the works in  an apartment in Parma; nine Moldovan nationals have since been placed under investigation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe painting were stolen on the night of March 22 into the morning of March 23. Police released a video of the robbery, which appeared to show a three-minute robbery in which two thieves entered through a window and grabbed the works off the wall. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAlso known as the \u201cVilla of Masterpieces,\u201d the Fondazione Magnani Rocca houses the collection of Italian critic Luigi Magnani. Magnani established the foundation in 1977, before his death in 1984, and named it after his parents.
