Stunning scenes were witnessed across Europe, particularly in Spain, while Bj\u00f6rk played a special DJ set at her own curated solar eclipse rave in her native Iceland.<\/p>\n<div class=\"td-a-ad id_inline_ad0 id_ad_content-horiz-center\"><span class=\"td-adspot-title\">Advertisement<\/span>  <\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-article-1\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Now, listening data has been shared following the best solar eclipse since the turn of the century, with songs including Bonnie Tyler\u2019s \u2018Total Eclipse Of The Heart\u2019 seeing a huge surge in plays on Spotify.<\/p>\n<p>Data compared streams on August 12 to the average daily between August 1 and 11. In the UK alone, the 1983 Bonnie Tyler classic saw a 94 per cent rise in streams in the UK, and a 14 per cent boost worldwide \u2013 happening five weeks after the singer died on July 8.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Other tracks that saw an increase in streams thanks to the partial eclipse included Evolfo\u2019s \u2018Moon Eclipsed The Sun\u2019, which shot up by 12,817 per cent in the UK, and Chris Staples\u2019 \u2018Dark Side Of The Moon\u2019, which rose by 2,805 per cent across the country.<\/p>\n<p>Pink Floyd\u2019s 1973 track \u2018Eclipse\u2019 saw an increase of 594 per cent in the UK, Delta Goodrem\u2019s \u2018Eclipse\u2019 \u2013 which she sang while representing Australia at Eurovision 2026 \u2013 rose by 104 per cent, and Bill Withers\u2019 1971 classic \u2018Ain\u2019t No Sunshine\u2019 saw a spike of 17 per cent too.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>The most-streamed songs in the UK during the solar eclipse were:<\/strong><\/h2>\n<div class=\"td-a-ad id_inline_ad1 id_ad_content-horiz-center\"><span class=\"td-adspot-title\"><\/span><\/p>\n<h5 class=\"taboola-mid-article-title\">Recommended<\/h5>\n<div id=\"taboola-mid-article\">\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>Evolfo \u2018Moon Eclipsed The Sun\u2019 \u2014 12,817 per cent rise in the UK (1,251 per cent worldwide)<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Chris Staples \u2018Dark Side Of The Moon\u2019 \u2014 2,805 per cent rise in the UK (405 per cent worldwide)<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Pink Floyd \u2018Eclipse\u2019 \u2014 594 per cent rise in the UK (144 per cent worldwide)<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Delta Goodrem \u2018Eclipse\u2019 \u2014 104 per cent rise in the UK (40 per cent worldwide)<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Bonnie Tyler \u2018Total Eclipse Of The Heart\u2019 \u2014 94 per cent rise in the UK (14 per cent worldwide)<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Bill Withers \u2018Ain\u2019t No Sunshine\u2019 \u2014 17 per cent rise in the UK (three per cent worldwide)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Speaking to <em>The Independent<\/em>, Mal Pope \u2013 a friend of Bonnie Tyler \u2013 shared what it would have meant to the late singer to see her track played so widely on the day, saying that she would have \u201cbeen belting out\u201d the ballad with others.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe had the most amazing voice, a great singer, and I\u2019m sure she would have been smiling and thinking, \u2018isn\u2019t this lovely that people still remember this song\u2019, which was a big hit all around the world,\u201d Pope told the outlet. \u201cEvery time there\u2019s going to be a total eclipse, people are going to play the song on the spot, I\u2019m sure, for generations to come.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Soundtrack your eclipse-gazing today (viewing glasses not included). Cultural phenomena like the solar eclipse naturally bring people together, and we instinctively look for the perfect soundtrack to share that moment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She continued: \u201cWhether it\u2019s collectively returning to iconic anthems like \u2018Total Eclipse of the Heart\u2019 or seeking out more hidden celestial gems, these massive spikes in streaming show just how deeply we rely on music to elevate and connect us in the real world during shared human experiences.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ahead of the eclipse on Wednesday, Queen guitarist Brian May \u2013 who is a qualified astrophysicist after getting a PHD degree in 2007 \u2013 shared advice with fans on how best to view the solar phenomenon. per cent of the sun was obscured by the Moon between about 6pm and 8.15pm on Wednesday (August 12) \u2013 the most it has been blocked above UK skies since the 1999 total eclipse. Stunning scenes were witnessed across Europe, particularly in Spain, while Bj\u00f6rk played a special DJ set at her own curated solar eclipse rave in her native Iceland.<\/p>\n<div class=\"td-a-ad id_inline_ad0 id_ad_content-horiz-center\"><span class=\"td-adspot-title\">Advertisement<\/span>  <\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-article-1\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Now, listening data has been shared following the best solar eclipse since the turn of the century, with songs including Bonnie Tyler\u2019s \u2018Total Eclipse Of The Heart\u2019 seeing a huge surge in plays on Spotify.<\/p>\n<p>Data compared streams on August 12 to the average daily between August 1 and 11.
