Keen Porsche slantnose enthusiasts will keenly remember that in May 2025, Porsche registered \u2018Flachbau\u2019 and \u2018Flachbau RS\u2019 with the European Patent Office. The one-off, dreamy special above is why: this is the \u2013 surprise! \u2013 Flachbau RS.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s an owner\u2019s 991.2 911 GT2 RS<\/a> \u2013 already a formidable machine \u2013 transformed by Porsche\u2019s in-house dreamworks department (\u2018Sonderwunsch\u2019) into something that looks like \u2018Moby Dick\u2019. Not the whale, but Porsche\u2019s classic, rather effective and ‘monstrous’ racing car<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cOur aim was to reinterpret the iconic look of the 935 without compromising on safety, technology or road legality,\u201d said Porsche\u2019s VP of individualisation Alexander Fabig. Yup, you read that right: this thing\u2019s road-legal.<\/p>\n

And in a fortuitous twist, the design of this one-off was done by the same guy who did 2018\u2019s 935 reinterpretation<\/a> \u2013 Grant Larson. Grant\u2019s now retired, Porsche tells us, but said of his new creation: \u201cThe new Flachbau RS is a modern, fitting reinterpretation of the iconic 935 Moby Dick design.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Apparently turning a GT2 RS into a slantnose wasn\u2019t really the work of a lazy afternoon. There are new, lower front wings, additional louvres, a new front bumper, and a really lovely new LED light treatment arranged in three tiers for high, low and daytime running.<\/p>\n

Porsche\u2019s best fwiend Manthey<\/a> also decided to pitch into the project, which means there\u2019s a new front splitter, rear diffuser, better aero than standard, and a fat rear wing. Said wing can be manually fixed into three positions depending on how much downforce is required and yes, this is a very keen Porsche.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

So keen, it can produce 554kg of downforce when the wing\u2019s in its \u2018high\u2019 position. It\u2019s also 31.6kg lighter than the base GT2 RS, which already benefits from the lightweight Weissach Pack, so it\u2019s really quite light.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Porsche hasn\u2019t touched the GT2 RS\u2019s drivetrain, because\u2026 why? It already gets close to 700bhp, 553lb ft, a 0-62mph time of 2.8s, top speed of 211mph and a mighty 3.8-litre twin-turbo flat six. One does not simply\u2026 walk up the power of a GT2 RS.<\/p>\n

There’s a special one-off paintjob dubbed \u2018Grand Prix White\u2019, contrast black elements, some stripes, aerodisc wheels, and a stripped out interior. Like, really stripped out. The customer requested Porsche rip out the PCM system, the stereo, and even the sound deadening and floor coverings.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

It\u2019s now all painted metal and exposed carbon. Even the wiring harness has been allowed to see the light of day, and Porsche \u2013 because it\u2019s Porsche \u2013 even lightweighted the harness by removing \u201cindividual wires that were no longer needed\u201d. There\u2019s \u2018lightweight gearshift gaiter material\u2019, and then there\u2019s this.<\/p>\n

You\u2019ll spot some fancy \u2018Flachbau RS\u2019 stitching, cabon fibre buckets, and a N\u00fcrburgring inscription. That latter bit\u2019s not just for show \u2013 Porsche did 50 laps around the \u2018Ring in a validation prototype (one of three built). And around the \u2018Ring, keen Porsche test driver Lars Kern said is remained \u201cextremely stable and precise even at very high speeds\u201d. Job done, then.<\/p>\n
