We could be silly here and suggest Ferrari is now taking notes from Hyundai, this new one-off CZ26 looking like a streamlined version of the South Korean carmaker\u2019s delightful N Vision 74 concept<\/a>, but we won\u2019t. Because the SF90 Stradale<\/a> from whence this CZ26 came is not a silly car.<\/p>\n

And Ferrari \u2013 understandably \u2013 takes this stuff very seriously. So, this is the latest Special Projects<\/a> Ferrari, designed by Flavio Manzoni for an American customer that reimagines the mad, V8-engined supercar.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The headlight and front bumper structure has been completely redesigned, the SF90\u2019s sharp, samurai-slashed lights making way for a pair of slim units \u201cwith a concealed effect\u201d. There\u2019s a set of vertical elements in the bumper, along with a set of strakes on the bonnet, too, trading the SF90\u2019s elegant form for something a touch more brutal.<\/p>\n

Ferrari calls it a \u2018horizontal design\u2019 theme, with a \u2018two-box silhouette\u2019. The rear has had a makeover too, again focusing on slim, horizontal light elements that do away with Ferrari\u2019s original semi-circular ones.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

There\u2019s also \u2013 dare we say it \u2013 a cleaner, more streamlined treatment to the rear window leading into the little ducktail spoiler on this one versus the standard car. \u201cThe overall bodywork design is based on an extremely clean and rigorous aesthetic,\u201d said Ferrari. Of course.<\/p>\n

Ferrari said the materials used were \u201cdeveloped with a futuristic inspiration in mind\u201d, giving off the idea of a \u201ctechnical and sporty car\u201d. We\u2019d argue most Ferraris (barring That New One) tend to do this rather well, but there\u2019s something very cyberpunk-ish about this one that hits nicely. New wheels, you\u2019ll have noticed.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

It\u2019s not all just show, mind. Ferrari \u2013 because it\u2019s Ferrari \u2013 reworked the aero, so the cooling and airflow were entirely redone by moving the radiator pack and bypass ducts, along with redesigning the underbody and vortex generator system. Even the rear engine cover gets new vents. Handy when you\u2019ve got 986 very animated horsies attempting to turn rubber into dust.<\/p>\n

Yep, 986bhp \u2013 Ferrari hasn\u2019t messed with the SF90\u2019s \u2018base\u2019 content, so it\u2019s still a V8 with three electric motors and 4WD. It\u2019ll go from 0-62mph in 2.5s, 0-124mph in 6.7s and lap Fiorano very quickly indeed.<\/p>\n
