Rivian has heard your pleas for second-row captain\u2019s chairs.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"duet--article--article-body-component\">\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">For years, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/Rivian\/comments\/1omueqc\/rivian_please_offer_captain_chairs\/\">Rivian owners have lamented<\/a> the absence of captain\u2019s chairs in the R1S, noting that the three-row SUV would be much improved with standalone seats instead of a bench in the second row. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/Rivian\/comments\/1bly7by\/comment\/kw917zh\/\">Parents groused<\/a> that loading and unloading kids in the R1S could be a headache, especially with a child\u2019s seat in the second row. And some owners have even contemplated going so far as to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/Rivian\/comments\/1omueqc\/comment\/nmtkgeq\/\">rip out the second-row bench seat<\/a> and replace it with aftermarket chairs \u2014 so desperate were they for an accessible path to the third row.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"duet--article--article-body-component\">\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">Fortunately for them, Rivian announced today that the much-requested captain\u2019s chairs will be coming to the R1S as part of the 2027 model year refresh for the whole R1 lineup.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"duet--article--article-body-component\">\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">But the chairs won\u2019t come cheap. Interested buyers will need to shell out $2,500 for Rivian\u2019s Sound and Vision package, which includes a glass roof and audio system, in order to get the captain\u2019s chairs. Even then, the chairs will be $1,500 with the Black Mountain interior theme, and $2,000 with the Ocean theme.
