{"id":2090793,"date":"2026-08-13T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-08-12T21:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/analyse.optim.biz\/?p=2090793"},"modified":"2026-08-13T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2026-08-12T21:00:00","slug":"motorist-sets-new-world-record-for-driving-on-two-wheels-in-rental-car","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/analyse.optim.biz\/?p=2090793","title":{"rendered":"Motorist sets new world record for driving on two wheels in rental car"},"content":{"rendered":"<div data-testid=\"HtmlContent\" class=\"MarkUpWrapper-sc-t20i90-0 hQwWlJ\">\n<p><em>Here\u2019s TopGear.com\u2019s roving correspondent, Cory Spondent, with his mostly incorrect exclusives from the world of motoring<\/em><\/p>\n<p>A motorist traveling across Europe in a cheap rental car has set a new world record for driving on two wheels without realising it.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"HtmlContent\" class=\"MarkUpWrapper-sc-t20i90-0 hQwWlJ\">\n<p>The motorist \u2013 who was just trying to get back to their rented villa in time for a long lunch \u2013 beat former record holder Terry Grant\u2019s time of 2m 24.5s by a full minute in a 10-year-old Kia Picanto to become the new fastest mile travelled in a car on two wheels.<\/p>\n<p>Guinness World Record adjudicators noted conditions on the day of the record were said to be \u2018nonchalant\u2019.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"HtmlContent\" class=\"MarkUpWrapper-sc-t20i90-0 hQwWlJ\">\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve seen many attempts on Terry Grant\u2019s long-standing record of driving a quick mile on two wheels in a car, but none were performed with such utter disregard for mechanical sympathy or even any vague notion of what they were doing,\u201d a GWR spokesperson said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYes, there\u2019s a long-running joke amongst enthusiastic motorists that rental cars are indeed the fastest cars on the planet and should be driven on their door handles at every opportunity.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div data-testid=\"HtmlContent\" class=\"MarkUpWrapper-sc-t20i90-0 hQwWlJ\">\n<p>\u201cBut this new world record that saw a cheap, rented, 200,000-mile Picanto hoon up a picturesque mountain pass on a Tuesday morning quite literally on its door handles in record time beggars belief.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe may never see its like again,\u201d the spokesperson added.<\/p>\n<p>GWR adjudicators later noted the same motorist may well have inadvertently broken another record, this time for the tightest gap driven through by a car on two wheels.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOutta my way, rookies, that pasta\u2019s not gonna eat itself,\u201d the motorist was later reported as saying.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here\u2019s TopGear.com\u2019s roving correspondent, Cory Spondent, with his mostly incorrect exclusives from the world of motoring A motorist traveling across Europe in a cheap rental car has set a new world record for driving on two wheels without realising it.
