time at the Canadian Open came to an end as he was defeated by Rafael Jodar in straight sets.<\/p>\n<p>Fils defeated Zachary Svadja, Mariano Navone, and Cameron Norrie to reach the quarter finals of the Masters event, but he was comprehensively beaten by an inspired Jodar.<\/p>\n<p>Jodar won 7-6, 6-3 in what was truly a glimpse into the future of the ATP Tour.<\/p>\n<p>Following the match, Fils was full of praise for Jodar\u2019s performance and listed him as one of the \u2018great generation\u2019 currently popping up on the ATP Tour.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking after his Canadian Open exit, Fils said:\u00a0\u201cI need to get back to training. And I include myself in that. It\u2019s going to be cool to watch.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Each of the players named by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/arthur-fils\">Fils<\/a> are worthy of being called a future superstar and they have already put in the performances to prove that.<\/p>\n<p>Shelton and Mensik claimed their first Masters titles during the 2025 season, at the Canadian Open and the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/miami-open\">Miami Open<\/a>, respectively, and they both currently sit inside the top 20 of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/ATP-Tour\">ATP Tour<\/a> rankings.<\/p>\n<p>Fonseca has already claimed two ATP titles so far in his career and he knocked <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/novak-djokovic\">Novak Djokovic<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/casper-ruud\">Casper Ruud<\/a> out of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/roland-garros\">Roland Garros<\/a> earlier this year. He currently sits at world No 27 in the ATP Tour rankings, having enjoyed a career high of world No 24.<\/p>\n<p>Jodar, meanwhile, has been one of the stories of the ATP Tour this season.
