href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/aryna-sabalenka\">Aryna Sabalenka<\/a> has endured a difficult season so far, filled with stunning highs and increasingly worrying lows.<\/p>\n<p>Sabalenka started the season in stunning fashion by claiming the Brisbane International title and reaching the final of the Australian Open.<\/p>\n<p>She followed that by winning Indian Wells and the Miami Open, becoming just the fifth woman in tennis history to claim the \u2018Sunshine Double\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Since, her season as soured somewhat, and has become littered with several worrying defeats at high-profile tournaments.<\/p>\n<p>Sabalenka has not reached a final since the Miami Open and she has been beaten before the quarter final stage at the Italian Open, Wimbledon, and most recently at the Canadian Open.<\/p>\n<p>She heads into US Open season in the difficult position of not being the outright favourite for the Flushing Meadows event, despite winning the tournament in the past two seasons.<\/p>\n<p>However, Andy Roddick believes there is one thing Sabalenka can do in order to still enter the US Open as the favourite.<\/p>\n<h2>More Aryna Sabalenka news<\/h2>\n<p><a \u201cThe women\u2019s side going into the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/us-open\">US Open<\/a> it\u2019s hard to actually point to someone and say they\u2019re the favourite. Yeah. And it\u2019s if you do somehow get to a favorite it\u2019s almost by subtraction. Do you know what I\u2019m saying? <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cLike <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/elena-rybakina\">Rybakina<\/a> has looked pretty average. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/jessica-pegula\">Jess [Pegula]<\/a> is proven, but she took an early loss. You know, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/iga-swiatek\">Iga [Swiatek]<\/a> has looked better. A win against <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/Marta-Kostyuk\">Kostyuk<\/a> that I thought was a big one. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/coco-gauff\">Coco\u2019s [Gauff]<\/a> reliable at this point. Is she the favorite going into the US Open? <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cIt is wide open. Yeah. On the women\u2019s side, unless someone catches a heater in Cincinnati, then, you know, obviously if Sabalenka goes and wins there, I think she instantly re-establishes herself as the favorite. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cShe doesn\u2019t need as much work to get back to favorite status as someone else, right? if she goes and wins something, you\u2019re like, \u201cOkay, great.
