\n\tStorm King Art Center in New York\u2019s Hudson Valley has filled its senior curatorial vacancy after over a year and half. First reported by Artnet<\/em>, Anne Reeve will lead the sculpture park\u2019s curatorial program as senior curator from November 1.\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tReeve is no stranger to sculpture. She heads to Storm King from the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden in Washington, D.C., where she has worked since 2018 as associate curator and now curator, overseeing the modern and contemporary sculpture collection. She started her curatorial career at Glenstone, a private contemporary art museum in Potomac, Maryland, which also boasts a significant outdoor sculpture collection across its large campus. Reeve will trade in the Hirshhorn\u2019s 1.3 acre sculpture garden for 500 acres of open-air museum when she joins Storm King later this year.\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tReeve said in a statement, \u201cI\u2019ve long appreciated Storm King as an incubator for serious sculptural thinking. I\u2019m drawn to the chance to work curatorially in a different kind of setting\u2014where scale and landscape open up new possibilities for sculpture and for the artists who make it. I look forward to being in such a singular place, working alongside a team I already admire.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tReeve succeeds Nora Lawrence, who now serves as the outdoor museum\u2019s first executive director since her promotion from artistic director and chief curator in January 2025. Lawrence is the first non-family member to lead Storm King since its founding by businessman Ralph E. Ogden in 1960.\u00a0<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cAnne brings deep knowledge and sensitivity to the ways in which artists engage the landscape, and I look forward to working with her as Storm King continues to develop ambitious projects that speak to the issues of our time,\u201d said Lawrence in a statement. \u201cHer work reflects the kind of curiosity and care that are central to Storm King\u2019s mission.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tDuring her tenure at the Hirshhorn, Reeve co-curated \u201cLee Ufan: Open Dimension\u201d (2019-2020), the museum\u2019s first single artist outdoor exhibition and Ufan\u2019s largest outdoor installation in the US to date. She also curated \u201cPut It This Way: (Re)Visions of the Hirshhorn Collection\u201d(2022\u20132023), a major permanent collection exhibition of women and nonbinary artists.
