CREDIT: Jim Dyson\/Paul Zimmerman\/Getty Images<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"vc_row_inner tdi_83 article-content-row vc_row vc_inner wpb_row td-pb-row\">\n<div class=\"vc_column_inner tdi_85  wpb_column vc_column_container tdc-inner-column td-pb-span12\">\n<div class=\"vc_column-inner\">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"td_block_wrap tdb_single_content tdi_86 td-pb-border-top td_block_template_2 td-post-content tagdiv-type\" data-td-block-uid=\"tdi_86\">\n<div class=\"tdb-block-inner td-fix-index\">\n<p>Morrissey has shared a personal tribute to his late manager Peter Katsis, describing him as \u201ca very unusual star\u201d and saying \u201ca world has ended\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Katsis died last Thursday (August 6) at the age of 69, from what has been reported to be the result of complications from congestive heart failure.<\/p>\n<p>The Chicago native was a major figure in the music industry, having managed the Smashing Pumpkins,\u00a0Backstreet Boys,\u00a0Snoop Dogg\u00a0and\u00a0Jane\u2019s Addiction\u00a0among others,\u00a0and when his passing was first announced, the former Smiths\u00a0frontman\u00a0posted a photograph of Katsis.<\/p>\n<p>Now, Morrissey has shared a lengthier tribute, alongside a photograph of Katsis when he went to see the New York Dolls\u00a0in Chicago in\u00a01973 in drag.<\/p>\n<p>Reflecting on the photo, Morrissey wrote: \u201cHe certainly got into the spirit of things. He knew how and when to give momentum another good shove. Sometimes his Chicagoan knuckle-district dialogue was slightly comic strip, but it was all part of his self-destructive charm\u2026 taunting an overdose of Dom Perignon because\u2026 well, why not?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He went on to reflect on their shared outlook on the music business. \u201cWe were similar in that we were both correct too early \u2013 on all predictions. He knew that most modern bands\u00a0contained\u00a0neither danger nor mystery, but he\u00a0gritted\u00a0his teeth and dealt with the platitudinous industry gabble of Los Angeles.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a more personal note, he continued: \u201cWhen my mother died in 2020, he raced to my side. He knew I\u00a0couldn\u2019t\u00a0deal with it. He\u00a0immediately\u00a0introduced me\u00a0to\u00a0Andrew\u00a0Watt\u00a0and we recorded \u201cBonfire\u00a0Of\u00a0Teenagers\u201d faster than the speed of sound \u2013 an undreamed-of rescue at a time when another day, for me, might not have come.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe future is now merely the\u00a0remainder\u00a0of life,\u201d he concluded. \u201cDead brother\u00a0buried.\u00a0A world\u00a0has ended.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Bonfire Of Teenagers\u2019 was recorded in 2020 and 2021 with Watt as producer, with guests including\u00a0Miley Cyrus,\u00a0Iggy Pop\u00a0and members of\u00a0Red Hot Chili Peppers, but it remains unreleased.<\/p>\n<p>Among others to pay tribute to Katsis following his death was Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan, who called him \u201ca dear friend and extended member of our family\u201d, crediting him with helping to \u201cusher in the alternative revolution of the \u201980s and \u201990s and beyond\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>See further td-fix-index\">\n<p>Morrissey has shared a personal tribute to his late manager Peter Katsis, describing him as \u201ca very unusual star\u201d and saying \u201ca world has ended\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Katsis died last Thursday (August 6) at the age of 69, from what has been reported to be the result of complications from congestive heart failure.<\/p>\n<p>The Chicago native was a major figure in the music industry, having managed the Smashing Pumpkins,\u00a0Backstreet Boys,\u00a0Snoop Dogg\u00a0and\u00a0Jane\u2019s Addiction\u00a0among others,\u00a0and when his passing was first announced, the former Smiths\u00a0frontman\u00a0posted a photograph of Katsis.<\/p>\n<p>Now, Morrissey has shared a lengthier tribute, alongside a photograph of Katsis when he went to see the New York Dolls\u00a0in Chicago in\u00a01973 in drag.<\/p>\n<p>Reflecting on the photo, Morrissey wrote: \u201cHe certainly got into the spirit of things. Given his bustling masculinity, he would roar with laughter to know that I have used this shot in summation of his life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am justifiably glum this week, and it has taken me several days to even face writing this because PK was a very unusual star: an adventurer who enjoyed biting off more than most people could collectively chew,\u201d he continued.\u00a0\u201cHe was very much liked \u2013 which was unusual in a music manager.\u00a0In a way, a dreamy-eyed romantic,\u00a0but\u00a0when necessary, a trick octopus.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\" data-instgrm-captioned data-instgrm-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/Db27WonIXOD\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=loading\" data-instgrm-version=\"14\">\n<div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<div>View this post on Instagram<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Morrissey added: \u201cAll liberties were taken; all fun encouraged and consumed. Sometimes his Chicagoan knuckle-district dialogue was slightly comic strip, but it was all part of his self-destructive charm\u2026 taunting an overdose of Dom Perignon because\u2026 well, why not?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He went on to reflect on their shared outlook on the music business. \u201cWe were similar in that we were both correct too early \u2013 on all predictions. He knew that most modern bands\u00a0contained\u00a0neither danger nor mystery, but he\u00a0gritted\u00a0his teeth and dealt with the platitudinous industry gabble of Los Angeles.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In a more personal note, he continued: \u201cWhen my mother died in 2020, he raced to my side. He knew I\u00a0couldn\u2019t\u00a0deal with it.
