I\u2019ll probably only realize that next year when I don\u2019t have to go there every other day to train over the Cipressa and Poggio,\u201d Poga\u010dar told <em>Tour 202<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI also want to win another world championship and a multi-day race,\u201d he added. \u201cBut the big goal remains Paris-Roubaix.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Poga\u010dar has been on a mission to check off every race worth knowing about since he won the 2024 Giro d\u2019Italia.<\/p>\n<p>He would cement himself into the athletic Hall of Fame if he pulls off this audacious assault on the pro cycling calendar.<\/p>\n<p>Pogi\u2019s biggest problem?<\/p>\n<p>The Olympic Games road race.<\/p>\n<p>Now aged 27, Poga\u010dar has got to get it done in L.A. in 2028.<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s not got the patience to be waiting another Olympiad for Brisbane 2032.<\/p>\n<h2>Olympic vision vs. Tour de France priorities<\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_996831\" class=\"pom-image-wrap photo-alignnone\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1200\" height=\"874\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-996831\" src=\"https:\/\/velo-cdn.outsideonline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/Z8C_9111-1200x874.jpg?width=3840&amp;auto=webp&amp;quality=75&amp;fit=cover\"><figcaption class=\"pom-caption\"><span class=\"article__caption\">Poga\u010dar admitted his Olympic dream might butt against team and sponsor priorities.<\/span> (Photo: Gruber Images)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Poga\u010dar, who\u2019s signed with UAE Emirates-XRG through 2030, hinted to the <em>Tour 202 podcast<\/em> that his gold medal quest comes before everything \u2013 team preference or not.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe other races [I want to win] are of course the Olympic Games, which are held every four years,\u201d he said. \u201cI have to get the correct race program over the year to be in good shape for it.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-placeholder-wrapper relative w-full border-t border-b border-border-light col-span-full my-3 md:col-span-10 md:col-start-2\">\n<div class=\"mb-[30px] min-h-[30px] text-center\"><span class=\"font-utility-4 font-medium tracking-[1px] text-neutral-500 uppercase\">ADVERTISEMENT<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cThe race isn\u2019t exactly in the interests of my team. But these are my wishes, and I think the team will take them into account,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s a subtle flex from Poga\u010dar.<\/p>\n<p>The 27-year-old is the utter pinnacle of a superteam loaded with riches \u2013 including Tour de France podium finisher Isaac Del Toro, who just signed on through 2031.<\/p>\n<p>The world\u2019s No.1 team has bowed to its leader\u2019s will many times before. King Pog risked his Tour de France the last two years by bashing over the grim cobbles of Paris-Roubaix, for example.<\/p>\n<p>But it\u2019s not all take.<\/p>\n<p>Poga\u010dar has also had to work for his super-sized contract.<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s hinted many times over that he sometimes reluctantly shows up to demolish the Tour de France.<\/p>\n<p>He suppresses his hunger for fresh morsels to pick at and keeps the sponsors happy at the race that really matters.<\/p>\n<p>It seems there will be no compromise on the L.A.
