Check out the trailer below.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>READ MORE: Madness\u2019 Suggs: \u201cWe were unique \u2013 but it\u2019s so hard for bands now\u201d<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The part-mockumentary film was first released in 1981, and caught the band as they rose through the ranks to become one of Britain\u2019s best-loved music groups.<\/p>\n<div class=\"td-a-ad id_inline_ad0 id_ad_content-horiz-center\"><span class=\"td-adspot-title\">Advertisement<\/span>  <\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-article-1\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>With no actors at all, the film caught Suggs, Bedders, El Thommo, Chas Smash, Woody, Chrissy Boy and Barzo playing themselves, reliving some of the biggest moments in their journey at that point \u2013 reliving the rows, line-up changes, and gigs that led to them finding their distinctive sound.<\/p>\n<p>It was shot largely on location, including Camden\u2019s legendary Dublin Castle, and the soundtrack includes classics like \u2018One Step Beyond\u2019, \u2018Night Boat to Cairo\u2019, \u2018My Girl\u2019, \u2018Baggy Trousers\u2019 and \u2018Embarrassment\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Now, over four decades since it was first released, the movie is returning to UK and Ireland cinemas on October 2, before making its long-awaited Blu-ray debut on October 19.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>The BFI has restored it in 4K, and the premiere on September 30 will include a Q&amp;A with members of Madness at BFI Southbank\u2019s NFT1.<\/p>\n<div class=\"td-a-ad id_inline_ad1 id_ad_content-horiz-center\"><span class=\"td-adspot-title\"><\/span><\/p>\n<h5 class=\"taboola-mid-article-title\">Recommended<\/h5>\n<div id=\"taboola-mid-article\">\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>On the BFI Blu-ray\/DVD Limited Edition, there will also be lots of brand-new extras, including new interviews with Suggs, Mark \u2018Bedders\u2019 Bedford and director Dave \u2018Robbo\u2019 Robinson, looking back on the making of the film.<\/p>\n<p>There will also be the classic audio commentary from Robinson and Chris \u2018Chrissy Boy\u2019 Foreman, as well as behind-the-scenes footage, the original 1981 trailer, and nine Madness music videos.<\/p>\n<p>First pressings also come with an illustrated collector\u2019s booklet, which features new writing by Andrew Pulver and Johnny Mains, alongside Neil Tennant\u2019s original review.<\/p>\n<p><em>Take It Or Leave It<\/em> was the feature film debut from director and Stiff Records founder Dave Robinson, and built around real events and improvised dialogue. There are so many factors. We were unique \u2013 I think we are unique. All those singles, whatever they were \u2013 calypso, jazz, ska, British pop \u2013 they all sound like Madness.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s so hard for bands now. When we started (\u2018the good-old-fucking-days\u2019 and all that\u2026 I wish they were!) there were probably 15 pubs in Camden Town where you could get a gig. Now there\u2019s probably one or two. So for a band of our size \u2013 six or seven people \u2013 I think it\u2019d be very difficult. We certainly wouldn\u2019t have got very far on X Factor or Britain\u2019s Got Talent. We wouldn\u2019t have got past the first round. Check out the trailer below.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>READ MORE: Madness\u2019 Suggs: \u201cWe were unique \u2013 but it\u2019s so hard for bands now\u201d<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The part-mockumentary film was first released in 1981, and caught the band as they rose through the ranks to become one of Britain\u2019s best-loved music groups.<\/p>\n<div class=\"td-a-ad id_inline_ad0 id_ad_content-horiz-center\"><span class=\"td-adspot-title\">Advertisement<\/span>  <\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-article-1\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>With no actors at all, the film caught Suggs, Bedders, El Thommo, Chas Smash, Woody, Chrissy Boy and Barzo playing themselves, reliving some of the biggest moments in their journey at that point \u2013 reliving the rows, line-up changes, and gigs that led to them finding their distinctive sound.<\/p>\n<p>It was shot largely on location, including Camden\u2019s legendary Dublin Castle, and the soundtrack includes classics like \u2018One Step Beyond\u2019, \u2018Night Boat to Cairo\u2019, \u2018My Girl\u2019, \u2018Baggy Trousers\u2019 and \u2018Embarrassment\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Now, over four decades since it was first released, the movie is returning to UK and Ireland cinemas on October 2, before making its long-awaited Blu-ray debut on October 19.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>The BFI has restored it in 4K, and the premiere on September 30 will include a Q&amp;A with members of Madness at BFI Southbank\u2019s NFT1.<\/p>\n<div class=\"td-a-ad id_inline_ad1 id_ad_content-horiz-center\"><span class=\"td-adspot-title\"><\/span><\/p>\n<h5 class=\"taboola-mid-article-title\">Recommended<\/h5>\n<div id=\"taboola-mid-article\">\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>On the BFI Blu-ray\/DVD Limited Edition, there will also be lots of brand-new extras, including new interviews with Suggs, Mark \u2018Bedders\u2019 Bedford and director Dave \u2018Robbo\u2019 Robinson, looking back on the making of the film.<\/p>\n<p>There will also be the classic audio commentary from Robinson and Chris \u2018Chrissy Boy\u2019 Foreman, as well as behind-the-scenes footage, the original 1981 trailer, and nine Madness music videos.<\/p>\n<p>First pressings also come with an illustrated collector\u2019s booklet, which features new writing by Andrew Pulver and Johnny Mains, alongside Neil Tennant\u2019s original review.<\/p>\n<p><em>Take It Or Leave It<\/em> was the feature film debut from director and Stiff Records founder Dave Robinson, and built around real events and improvised dialogue. When we started (\u2018the good-old-fucking-days\u2019 and all that\u2026 I wish they were!) there were probably 15 pubs in Camden Town where you could get a gig. Now there\u2019s probably one or two. So for a band of our size \u2013 six or seven people \u2013 I think it\u2019d be very difficult. We certainly wouldn\u2019t have got very far on X Factor or Britain\u2019s Got Talent. We wouldn\u2019t have got past the first round.
